hmm if your making villans why not make catra from shera playable i she is not overpowers she fights quickly with cat reflexes also when she puts her mask on she turns into a panther so that would be her mount on the monunt level and also a super.

I would love to play as catra she is my fave villain , and her cat transformation would be very fun to play as.
also thanks bWWd for the next demo was very fun ! and I welcome some platforming elements.
 
Platform level looks great! How possible is it to make items that you can pick up?  Lead pipe Final Fight style...
 
Well, the problem is that he-man's sword is already powerful so picking up something like pipe while having sword would be downgrading, i had he-man picking up rock but i disabled that temporarily for now, i might bring it back but done a bit differently.
maybe i will do laserguns for some characters to pickup, i dont know, it might make the game very easy because playing as zoar is basically like having lasergun and you can see how easy it is to get rid of enemies.
 
Mmm, I think being able to pick up things definitely adds a fun element-- even if the thing your picking up barely serves a purpose-- or is a weaker (or equally powerful) weapon... I like the rock idea-- just to throw at enemies and see it hit them is cool.  Like, River City Ransom esc... with a cool sound effect you have yourself a winner! :D What about Eternian treasure that gives you points (or actual money for a stage end shop?)  Bags of gold or something.  Maybe being able to find he-man's shield or battle axe would be neat...  Laser guns is cool too-- just seeing He-man (or whoever) holding one of the generic filmation lasers would be awesome!
 
WSkullhead, the issue is that the Final Fight style doesn't really fit with the He-Man license. I think bWWd definitely has the right idea how to approach the license in beat 'em up form.

If this had happened in the arcades back in those days, being a children's cartoon license, it would have most likely gone to Konami. In that case think more like TMNT, Simpsons, X-Men, etc. An example of a more modern approach might be the IGS games, Knights of Valour, The Gladiator, and Oriental Legends. Some of the games in those series are playable in the latest version of M.A.M.E., and it might not hurt to check them out and see if there's any ideas you may want to borrow.

With that in mind, perhaps boulders could be struck, and sent across the screen for the occasional easy kill, like the signs, fire hydrant caps, street cones, etc., in the first TMNT game. Plus doing it that way would make more sense for the less physically strong characters, than to have them lift a boulder over their heads and throw it.

Skeletor: Actually makes a lot of sense, if the main villain is either Hordak, or Horde Prime. Skeletor would want the ultimate power for himself. Temporary alliance for the sake of eliminating the biggest obstacles on his way to power, with the mind to turn on his temporary allies when the task is complete.
 
Thats good excuse for keeping skeletor and other bad guys playable, pretending to help but taking over after boss battle.
I think modern beatem ups went more into rpg realms with upgrades and leveling system.I was thinking about adding weapons to pickup by he-man like really big rocks or trees but other characters wouldnt be able to pick them up, im not sure if theres a way to skip weapon, i know there is some index but you cant really pick particular one i think, only skip last ones, maybe it would work if i would put them in proper order, but would be nice to have manatarms or teela picking up laser gun but he-man wouldnt do it cause he never used them in show, we will see.I can always make he-man picking it up and throwing it away or something i guess.
 
bwwd, IIRC you can use "none" for a placeholder in the model's weapon list. Since OpenBOR is smart enough to just ignore a weapon the model does not have a matching entry for, this should allow you to make weapons one character can use and another can't without having to painstakingly plan out the order.
