Don't hit me guys but I don't notice a difference between before and after adding those rangez's. :/

As for issue with homing missiles can't move up or down in Y axis, why not simply set snowman (and other enemies who might shoot them too) to shoot them on ground only?

I might have to settle on that in the end, but it's not the ideal solution. You see, in the original game those missiles follow you around in every axis, so for players familiar with the NES version it's quite noticeable if the missiles behave differently in this mod. It would be like playing a Final Fight mod were Haggar is faster than Guy, for no discernible reason.

I've been working on another stage in the meantime, the battleship from TMNT3:

nice demo!  Very cool!
I like the idea of the remake levels (tmnt2 + tmnt3)!
It's very nice and interesting that you want to add all the bonus characters like casey jones, april and splinter!
Great!!

Thank you White Dragon and O Ilusionista.

Progress on April:

While working on this mod I noticed that Konami funked up the scale in all the TMNT games including TMNT In Time. The Foot Soldiers should be taller then the Turtles, and while that's not obvious when playing, it is when you put them besides Shredder or in this case, April. It's funny, but no big deal.

Nice work with april, nice screenshot too.

Are you going to add more moves? like spinning chucks, or are you keeping it like the original games?

Simply wonderful. great spriter!!
I hope to be able to use your sprites as a base to draw the bonus characters for TMNT SS

Very cool edit. Will she use her microphone as a Kurasi Gama?

About the size error, is something common on games.  In Captain America & Avengers, for example, Juggernaut is just few pixels taller than Cap. America, and Cap America has size problems even comparing him with himself.

Just played it. Wonderful demo. You made a great work. Here are some things I noticed:
I missed the possibility to run
I also missed being abel to throw enemies when they are in the pain animation after the first hit, like in the arcade game
I noticed there are only a maximun of three enemies at the same time on the screen ¿Is this because it is the first level and wanted to make it easier or will you keep it to make it more 16 bit-like? I would love to see more foot soldiers on the screen at the same time
I like the boss. It´s simple and easy, but that´s the way a first level boss should be
I loved your Power Rangers Mod and I´m sure I will love this one a lot more, ´cause TMNT is a franchise I am more familiar with.
Keep it up man. I´m sure your game will be awesome.

Every time I read the user above, HOLDPERSON, posting I instantily hear the quote "HOLD PERSON" from that Dungeon & Dragons game :)

Nah man, I'm sticking with the simple NES gameplay. Personal preference, also this game has so many characters that embellishing each one of them would be nuts.

Thank you very much White Dragon. It will be very hard to make new characters for SS, considering that it would require sooo many more animation frames than on this game.

For April I used screenshots from the show as a base, except for her attack animation as well as the animation from when she falls into a manhole.

Yeah it's funny how some mistakes are only noticeable when working on these mods. I had absolutely no idea about the issues with Captain America for example.

Regarding the Kurasi Gama, what would that mean in video game terms? What would be the difference between a that, and whip and a nunchucku? April uses the microphone like a whip (like in Castlevania). I'll give Mona Lisa one of the weapons her toy came with: a flail. maybe that would be more in line with a Kurasi Gama?

Thank you for your feedback and nice comments!
For now I'm keeping a low number of enemies on screen, and if more players join that limit would increase to 4 or 5.
This is not the first level - in fact, there's no first level as all of them will be selectable at the beginning. I changed Tora so that if you hit him while charging it won't stop him. Maybe that would be enough to increase the difficulty. That being said I don't want him to be cheap, so we'l see how it develops.
There's no running but other chars will be faster (Mondo Gecko, Lotus Blossom)

Thanks everybody!

It's fantastic to see april finally playable!!
mersox your're great!
Can I ask u what sprites you used as base to edit splinter?

Regarding the Kusari Gama, what would that mean in video game terms? What would be the difference between a that, and whip and a nunchucku?

Judging by your video (very nice, btw), she is already using it as a Kusari Gama. The main difference is with which part she strikes. In Whips, whe handle the grip part and we attack with the tip (or the extension) of it,
whip_1.jpg

while in a Kusari you attack with what you hold
ninja-kusari-gama.jpg

plus, in Kusari Gama, you can strike with both parts (the one that you hold, and the extension/tip), like Earthquake does:

And she can even spin the microphone with the cord, like this

Thanks!

Thank you!

For Splinter I'm not using other sprites as a base, I'm using screenshots and illustrations from the show.

IDLE and ICON came from this picture:

WALK animation came from a scene from the first season:

vlcsnap-2014-09-10-20h32m43s25.png

Except for the head. In one of the frames I used the same head as in IDLE, in another frame I used a different reference (I no longer have that particular screenshot but I believe it was from the episode "Cat Woman from Channel 6", and the third head was done from scratch as an in-between of the other two.

For basic attacks I plan to use these scenes from "A thing about Rats":

vlcsnap-2014-09-21-15h36m45s140.png

JUMPATTACK from this one:

vlcsnap-2014-09-21-16h03m14s138.png

Etc, etc.

The existing official Splinter sprites didn't work, they were either too small, too big, or inaccurate. Also I didn't find similar sprites from non-TMNT games, so I had to make new ones.

I see. Thanks for clarifying. Originally I though of giving April that spinning movement, but decided instead to give her a longer range to compensate for her weakness, and will be giving that cool twirling attack to Mona Lisa instead.

Nice work with April!

I think the best weapon to describe her microphone is flail

Oh BTW will she swing her microphone downwards on her jump attack?
