@PeXXeR: Thanks a lot man! I will try to keep at it! I have many ideas. I hope I'm able to realize ALL of them.

@maxman: Thanks a lot! That old lady ins in fact and NPC. The interesting thing about NPCs is that they can be "hostile" towards "players" which makes and NPC pretty much an "enemy" that doesn't need to be defeated in order to advance in the stage, even if you use the "wait" command.

@BeasTie: Thanks, man  :) ! Yeah, I guess the streets are too clean, huh? LOL. Well, I used screenshots from the Show as a reference and in the cartoon they looked pretty clean. Perhaps I can add some trash and stuff. It should be pretty easy. As a matter of fact, I could probably add the same details to other levels since I'm NOT making an identical remake.

@Bloodbane: Thanks a lot! Well, before the part on the video there's that part where April fights Bebop and Rocksteady's gang when they are still human (I already uploaded a video from that part) and then the final part of that "Turtle Tracks" level will be that building rooftop where they fight the Foot Soldiers for the first time!

Here I go again! I'm still trying to recreate scenes from the first episode of the show (Turtle Tracks). I still got some work to do but, this video should be good enough to show what I'm going for and what I'm trying to accomplish. There are more details I wanna add like traffic and more lighting FX but I just couldn't wait to show this. I hope you like it! Here's the video link:

You beat me to the punch, I was going to include the old lady in Rescue Palooza! Well I also had another similar idea and I was unsure which one to pick, now it will be easier to choose :P

I like the street area, how populated it looks. Good job!

Thank you so much, mersox  :) ! Maybe I beat you this time but you beat me with April! I thought about adding her and then you did before I even started working on her. I LOVE what you're doing with Rescue Palooza. I feel that you can still add the old lady, but your own version, just like I did with April. It was suggested to me that I could use yours and then just add her to the game but I wanted to do my own thing. I really enjoy doing things from scratch.

So, this a "more complete" version of the Turtle Tracks level based on the first episode of the 1987 series for my OpenBOR game. It is obviously "not identical" but it's pretty close. I did change a few things and added some cutscenes but, I still need more (cutscenes) in between the different parts of the level so that they feel more connected. These cutscenes are taking me WAY longer that I had anticipated but, I will finish them regardless. Here's  a link to the video:

I think I need more emoticons to express my pleasure at that new gameplay demo!

Oh, boy, the opening cut scene was special right from the opening shot of the cityscape and April's narrative lifted directly from the Turtle Tracks episode.

Nice job layering the April Manhattan Project sprites against the NES Arcade Game backgrounds too.  It's impressive to watch April handle those punks... who don't seem to use teamwork at all.  That's a very creative and unexpected way to open the game... playing a level before selecting a character... reminds me of X-Men 2: Clone Wars on Sega Genesis!

The second April cutscene sprite edit from the Arcade Game profile looks a little stranger due to the lack of jumpsuit pockets, but I wouldn't worry too much about it since I know there's so much more to do!  I do hope you can implement some short bridging sequences between the sewer rescue and the Ninja District areas.  I'm really glad to see you used the Manhattan Project rooftop level as the basis for the Turtle Tracks rooftop, as that music is some of my all-time Konami favorites too!

All things considered, it's a great first level in its own right and a special shoutout to the cartoon show!

Hahahaha!! I was laughing as I was reading your feedback. Specially the "I need more emoticons" part. I'm glad you like it, oldmanwinters! About April's suit pockets, believe it or not, I'm so dumb, I didn't notice. I'm glad you brought that up. The thing is that April's sprites don't have those pockets either due to the fact that the sprites are so small that I can't add as many details as I want to but it should be really easy to fix on that cutscene. Who  knows I might figure a way to add those pockets to the sprites. Thanks a lot for your feedback, man! Always appreciated!

Well, don't worry too much about it if you've got higher priorities for the game, but it would be good to keep the cutscene looks as consistent as possible.  In retro-styled games, most folks assume a game sprite will look less detailed to the scale and animations required.

I guess I was curious because the original sprite clearly had the breast pockets:

So it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to add them or else you could just remove them from the other cutscene sprite for simplicity's sake.

FIXED!!

Lol, it's all good. Criticism is always good, as long as it's constructive. Well, what happened was that I used her sprite from the arcade game, but only her head, because I needed a picture of her for the "select" screen. And then I used the same and started "drawing" a body for it "without" a reference. So, when I said that her sprites (in my game/MOD) didn't have those pockets, I meant the in-game sprites. I shouldn't have any issues adding more details to the cutscenes.

Not bad, sir! The new stages look terrific, even the cut scenes as well. Excellent job on the fix for April's breast pockets also!

@oldmanwinters: No, thank YOU!

@maxman: Thank you so much!

You guys really make me wanna keep working on this!!  :) Much appreciated!

Cool video Gabotico!

Having an interruption during cutscene is nice break. My suggestion is to control the enemies.
Since the game has just only started in that level, it's best to just put one or two punks then have the other punks coming one by one. Unless, you're planning a small story branch in which if April is defeated, she somehow finds a way to flee to the sewers
BTW I wonder, can other players join in that level?

@ Bloodbane: Thank you so much! The reason ALL punks appear at the same time is because that's how it happens in the cartoon. As a matter of fact, if you look at the position and the distance between all the gang members, that's how they show in the first episode of the series. I'm trying to make it as close to the show as possible. About other players joining in, well, right now it is possible but that's only because I haven't disabled that option yet. It is my intention that you "ONLY" play as April in that part. And I didn't know you could still advance in the game, even if April is defeated. What I could do is make the punks less challenging. Perhaps just give them less health when they're spawned since April doesn't really take them down, she escapes.

@ malevka115: Thanks a lot, man! Much appreciated!

As humorous as it is to see April hold her own against that horde of street punks, I think it probably would be wise to make some edits to that initial sequence to communicate that it's less a narrative about April skillfully owning all comers than it is about her making a strategic decision to evade them.  In the cartoon, she simply surprised them by hurling her camera at them and then made a quick evasion until they finally caught up with her.

Very true, oldmanwinters! My intention wasn't really to make it that humorous but to make April a playable character. I'm not sure how to translate that scene from the show in a more accurate way. I thought April could just use the camera to defend herself and then quickly escape. Maybe I can explain that in a cutscene where April says something like "I was barely able to evade them" and make that part of the level where she fights the punks shorter. But regardless, I want her to be a playable character later in the game.
