Canceled Rushing Beat/ Rival Turf Mod

Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.
Cool edits! :D

As for his position, judging from his moveset, he's good for a boss, especially with should charge he can terrorize players with it ;)

Good palette swap, make him particulary different.

About the reference, most of mohawk black big guys in videogames are inspired by Mr T. So I'm not that surprised.

Thanks a lot for the support, guys.

Right now working on a new boss enemy, I'm like 65% done so far, still need to work on some attacks. Later on more details :D

In case you didn't already know, I'm working on a Rushing Beat/ Rival Turf mod in collaboration with GlassJawBoxer. Our plan is to recreate the game with many enhancements such as:

- 2 new playable characters
- 4 player co-op
- new enemies
- new attacks and animation
- more weapons

Here is my new demo.

Just Wanted to say that just brought so many childhood memories of all my frustration I'll never forget getting so mad and cursing the screen and then being yelled at my Dad Great memories, I Am going to add some Heavy metal music to the stage but the still you have A Legend Here Cheers!

Hey guys I need help recreating the flowing river background graphics in stage 4-3. I tried using bglayer but all I can do is give it a wave effect. How would I make it continuously  move forward?

Thanks  for the kind words and support. I'm happy I can make someone feel nostalgic. That means I'm doing something right.

hmmm maybe like the BG layer of the moving bus in a loop, but this time forward? I don't know about the coding, sorry... :-\

The problem is the river are 3 different bg layers moving at different speeds. I don't even know of a mod to look into that had a similar effect. I know a tedious way to do it but I'm sure someone will know an easier way.

Oh, it doesn't allow multi-layer scrolling? Heh, several of my mods have many scroll layers, and, in fact, the original SFC version had both the riverside and the pier area multi-layered with the water. Hope anyone can support this feature for OpenBOR. :-\

OpenBOR can stack on as many layers as your CPU can handle. The level system supports four by default (front panel, panel, a water layer and background). Use of panel type entities, the scroll command and bg/fglayer pushes this to infinity.

Here's an example in a tech demo I'm building (which I hope to have ready in a couple of months).

You mean continuously flowing left or right?

If that's what you mean, the simplest trick is to set bgspeed and set last parameter of bglayer so it moves at relative speed with bgspeed.

If you have played Contra : Locked 'N' Loaded, you should the effect in 2nd stage and 3rd stage (Industrial area)
See this old video:

Contra: Locked 'N' Loaded PlayThrough 2

See the moving clouds (or smokes) at back? that's example of the trick. You can use similar trick to make your river

Yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to do.  I'll download it and take a look. Thanks.

Sorry, for the late reply. I have worked on some things. I finished level 4 boss, changed some enemy behaviors, and many other things that I have forgotten about. I've been working on extending the lift level. Once I've finished that and level 4, I'll post a new demo.

Joshiro any updates on the mod since its been a couple of months and still no word of it. I hope you haven't lost interest in it.

Sorry, I've been busy playing DBZ Xenoverse and Smash Bros on the Wii U lately. Don't worry, I'm still working on it.  I've added in some more weapons and fixed some other things.  Here is the link for an updated demo. I still haven't finished level 4 yet and I have to fix more stuff.

nice work, I have a few suggestions which are just a matter of taste.

Perhaps make the run slide attack have different dropv so the enemies can be juggled ?

tweak the special move sweep attack so its wider, or he spins around a couple of times so its longer.

Thanks. Hmm I wasn't sure if I should have added juggling or not. I don't have any hit boxes in the fall animations. I'll try it.

Okay, I will add that.

I'm digging this mod, very fun to play. Not sure I agree with the juggling thing honestly but I don't think it'll heavily effect the game.

Any updates on the mod Joshiro can't wait to see you have been working on in the past three months.
