Streets of Rage 4

That 4 player online co-op looks like fun. I do wonder if you would be able to select the same character when playing online.

And yet, I don't see myself playing online because of bad earlier experiences with other beat 'em ups. Most people I came across were just screwing around and not playing the game seriously. Also, they usually get in my way and we then hit eachother by accident.

When I'm playing a beat 'em up game with my brother, we always have a rule for ourselves: Player 1 takes the upper half of the screen and stays there and Player 2 takes the bottom half of the screen and stays there. This way, we won't get in eachother's way. We've been doing this since the early NES days and it never fails.

I'm not interested in a 4P co-op, it's the best way to make a visual mess. Now we seem to know a lot about the final version of SOR4. My conclusion for the moment is Floyd doesn't fight like a wrestler. The sound effects lack power because they are too realistic (SOR2's ones did the job like hell). The music has a good electro feeling, without being unforgettable. The graphics are really pleasant but as Danno said they look like cartoon too much. I would've prefered some more dark drawings in order to match more the SOR series. I'm glad they made Adam returned and changed Blaze outfit. I'm okay with the new characters, especially the girl. But I feel like there aren't much various attacks...

Anyway I don't want to sound as a wet blanket, I'm grateful for this new game of a understandably stopped series. And the first boss rockorocks, oh là là !
The definitive conclusion will be with the joypad in the hands...

I see everyone else is on top of this, good.

Well, the new guy, Floyd. I thought it was possible it could be mad but what looked like a metal arm in the previous images made me think it was a good chance of being someone else. Honestly, he's the only guy on the roster I have any interest in after Adam.

While I see myself buying and playing this, I can agree with how everyone else feels about this game, it never felt or looked right to me since the first trailer, and honestly, with the way Sega is it's hard to have that much confidence in their releases, they've wasted too much time and opportunities for anything not named Yakuza, not helped by the recent spreading of a 4chan thread about them, but that's a whole other discussion, but to clarify, I know it's 4chan but I've heard and read similar stuff about Sega before.

I may sound biter but it's mainly because there's no reason why they should be the way they are now. The digital market has opened a flood gate for arcade style games that aren't AAA titles, and there's enough indie games that show this, yet Sega takes no advantage at all, I mean look at how Steam has had Mother Russia Bleeds for some time now and The Takeover recently, both games makes this look even duller then it really is, saved by the fact that SOR4's art style isn't all that bad, just really unfitting and bad choices in redesigns, Blaze is the only one of the original 3 that came out looking good while Axel and Adam were downgraded. Oh, there's also the online and 4P co-op, nice additions regardless of how much mileage they'll get.

Yeah, they’re even downplaying Sonic’s actual games in favor of all the crazy marketing after Boom was a thing. Even Puyo and MegaTen don’t really get the same adoration as Yakuza.

What bothers me the most about this installment is the gameplay. Being way too barebones just to fit some narrative. Blaze is the worst offender here, for the fact that they decided to use her worst iteration in the franchise(SOR2). When we already got our SOR2 nostalgia fix with Axel(he also is in need of something exclusive to himself) if they decide to make a duel mode, Axel & Blaze would be extremely low tier & would get annihilated by someone like Adam if it were a thing.

If they make Adam an unlockable(which would really piss me off) I hope they at least have a code to unlock him because his inclusion is the only interesting commodity in this installment. & that's just sad.

Here's some more gameplay, with some new info for you guys:

I first thoughtt that these retro characters were a joke but it seems to be real. Too bad that they haven't rework them to hi-res but it's always a good addition.

Whoa! I never thought Max, Skate and Zan would return like this :o

Graphics surely clash alot but I guess it might work to certain players

BTW Max has new dynamite spin there. Makes me think that others might have new move as well

THey could redraw genesis sprites in 2x res at least , theres not much of them, it looks strange cause pixels clash with hires art
But on the other hand, we are so spoiled with openbor remakes and multiple versions so having those chars in actual official game does not mean much for us, for other people im sure its a blast to play as their fav chars in new game.

Oh wow they brought the retro style and characters back!!! good move, I might actually play it now, Hope this is all included at launch and not hidden behind a pay wall.

Finally a release date! I can't wait!! ;D (Never thought I would say that because a new SOR game seemed unlikely after so many years)

Oh look, here come the reviews:

Some french youtubers already played it yesterday in Twitch, it hurts to see how bad him and his friends played rough and bad this game...
I sometime feel it unfair that so many random ppl get hype for this game (like a trend) and will immediately leave it after completing the game.

Anyway, some hours left and we all can play this game!
The real beat'em up/Sor fans are ready!  8)

Decided to do something special for the release of one of the best beat em ups of the 90's. Hopefully will be finished by tomorrow.  ;D

I prefer this guy's review over IGN. The way IGN talks about it is like its like an old relic (which is kind of true anyway of most beat em ups) so its best to have someone who's passionate about retro games review it.
