starting openbor

Hi,

I have looked around the forums. I saw this

and would like to know which exactly is the first step to make my own openbor game?

not sure where to ask. I saw many tutorials in that thread above but I don't know which to start from.

can anyone give me a help here? thanks
 
pick the game you like the most and unpack files from pak using borpak.exe , then look at characters txt files and get openbor manual to read what used commands do to characters, also start removing or copying some commands to see what they do, its basically lots of animations with delays and commands inside.

from where do i pick games?
 
in download section you can find mods ( .pak files)

hmmm, thanks, but I have downloaded 3 different games now, I can't extract any .pak files.

it's the same issue: CRC failed. File is broken.

so.... I don't think it is a coincidence that 3 different game files are corrupt.

so is there something wrong with my pc (I use 7-zip) or the files are really corrupt?

edit:
make that 5 CORRUPT different game files

I am honestly dumbfounded as to the source of the corrupt files. is it my net/software or are the files really corrupted?

anyway, I would like to start learning another way since the situation hasn't allowed me to learn thru this.

what is literally the first step to make a new openBOR game? please tell me, I have experience in coding (C, java, MUGEN), so I am not a noob really, just noob in openBOR
 
I dont have problem downloading and unpacking, search openbor wiki for some basic info but starting from scratch or from bor edit pack isnt really good idea.
 
Hmmm.... have you tried redownloading? make sure the size of downloaded file matches mentioned size.

That's what I do when downloading OpenBoR builds from this site. I repeat downloading whenever the size of downloaded file is less than 3MBytes.
 
hmm, I check the files. yes you got the issue right. the files are way smaller than the supposed sizes of the files.

now how do I fix it? everytime I download a game, it finishes downloading fast because it results in a smaller file.
