I slowed down scroll speed and added delta movement to layers so they move in kinda 3d way.Im trying to make stages now.

I think the camera scroll setting is slower than default, or something. You can see it stop a few times in the video when bwwd is in the left corner. Maybe that's what gives it an autoscrool look?
 
You have beautiful stages right there, bWWd! ;D You added nice effects on the lighting in the stage(s). Nice touch. ;)

Im learning and experimenting so lots of things might change but i will stick to that background style, no freehand draw, mostly straight lines.
I think ill make about 7 different stages, then every stage has nightmode + platform mode so its 7 nights and 7 days, 7 platforms, about 21 stages + one stage on the beginning and on the end of the game.

Its very bad when you start adding and adding more and it never ends cause you dont even have a plan, but its really important to know when to stop adding things.
By the way.. i was using 16 bit mode and i had slowdowns when using more than 3 background layers on stage, now when using 32 bits i can use even 6-7 layers without any slowdown on pc and android.

That's the flaw of storyless game, no strict ending :).
I think the best way to stop is when you have enough levels to play. Then if you have more ideas for more levels, you can release updated version ;)

This is one of my problems since I started to know the massive possibilities of Openbor :)


BTW : your BG are really good. Keep it simple, so it don't "overcome/take power" on characters. (sorry I don't know how to say it) :P
 
Yea, everything is original and drawn by me, even sounds are recorded and mixed with some other original sounds.
Every playable character would have his npc follower according to the story, but im still undecided becaue i like gameplay using uzi, i could add it as weapon but big hands of robot and other playable chars would make it look a bit stupid.

About weapon, why not making something like SOR3 Zan.
Something like using the weapon his own way, like transphorming it in an energy ball? Just a suggestion.

Or, since it's cartoonish, the robot can transphorm the uzi/gun into something bigger like a big powerful blaster-gun. Just make a little animation transition for the transphormation.

BTW : this hell-like stage is terrific!! ;D
 
Maybe you can make weapon drops character based.  Or perhaps simply allow the player to switch to uzi anytime they want.

I'm going to have to dabble with that animation program you're using one day.  Perhaps I can make some new animations for my chars in day of the tentacle mod.

Really good work on those stages, reminds me of lucasarts style.

Probably last stage from main path, and each character would have own last stage.

Great! I am hoping there would be regular branches as well which everyone could take.
