Canceled Mace's Deadly Case

The design is pretty good, but I cannot unsee a BOXER (Vanessa) when I look at Mace punches here. Mace have a more different type of punches (and even a spining back fist I think)
But the timing of the attacks is good IMO

Thank you, I'm glad you like the design. True, she does have different types of punches and a spinning backfist in the original Fighting Force. But, I had to settle for this (Vanessa does not have a spinning backfist animation) And who knows, maybe Mace knows more fighting styles (like boxing)? ;)

Anyway, I don't intend to change it now because I'm actually almost finished with her moves. So I do hope you can maybe just pretend that Mace learned another fighting style? :P It would be a shame if it would ruin the mod for you because that's not what I intend to do.

ps: I just read the manual of Fighting Force, and it says she has an 'array of martial arts skills'. Not really sure what it means, but it sounds like she knows more than one fighting style. Am I correct?

As you can tell, I'm taking this rather seriously. If everybody is bothered by the fact that you can see that it was originally Vanessa, then I have no choice but to pick another character to edit and start all over again. I honestly don't want to do that :(
 
I don't mind her being an edit. But if you want, I can splice some new Attacks for her.

hmmm, alright. What kind of attacks?

Probably some more kicks, and a few grappling moves.
Okay, but how are you going to do that? I don't know how to give you the sprites. And the original character (Vanessa) does not have many 'kick' moves. She also lacks a good 'special attack' for when you're surrounded. Oh, and also a 'throw' move.

IF you could actually make those moves for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
 
Send me 'em in a PM, I can take bits from a few other characters and edit them to look like Mace for more convincing attacks. And I'd gladly do an offensive and defensive special move for her.
 
I'm still figuring out how to send them in a PM. I can't send them in a .RAR file it seems.
I do know how to send the images one by one. But that'll take some time.

My aim is not to discourage you! IMO Vanessa is actually a very good base.
The only thing is she need more diversity in her moves (hopefully her backfist, some kicks and her throws from FForce)
I think Miru have some plan to create custom anims for her.

The idea is certainly not to restart the character, don't worry.
I know what it is to restart making sprite because coding something is not possible or too hard to script. So, I would never suggest to restart this work to someone.
IMO, just complete her anims with these attacks would make it very good.

BTW, what is the button layout ?
Not the regular 1 attack 1 jump ?
Could be nice to have something close to the initial game even if this is not identical :)

Actually, the way I have set up the moves right now requires more buttons. 1 is for starting the normal combo of course. 2 is for jumping.
Attack3 button is for freespecial attack (the fierce punch which launches enemy upwards)
Attack4 button is also a freespecial attack (the fierce kick which launches enemy backwards)

The attack3/attack4 moves are tied to a "Rage Meter" (MP bar), which depletes when you use them so the player can not spam those attacks and play cheap. The rage meter is something that was present in Fighting Force 2. It will refill when you attack with regular attacks.

Thanks. And you are right, Miru is making some custom sprites for me. He also asked earlier if you could also help. I actually could use all the help I can get because I can't sprite for s***.  I can edit a little to make it look like Mace, but actually making custom moves goes a bit beyond my reach and that is why Miru is helping me. Perhaps you could make a 'spinning backfist' move? I'll gladly give you the sprites of Mace if you want.
 
Nice to see you are using non default lifebars and fonts. Sadly the game uses the overused kof graphics for the players and enemies :(

Glad you like the fonts and lifebars. And yes, the game uses the KOF characters for enemies (I mentioned earlier that I will be using those characters). It's actually my very first time using those characters for a mod, so they don't feel overused yet to me. Sorry :(

Now look, guys. I just wanna make something clear here. I'm just your basic avarage fellow when it comes to modding. Have you played 'Battletoads Double Dragon: The Revenge v.8'? Well, that mod shows the best of my skills really. I actually gave it my all there and it was, when compared to other mods, all just basic stuff and just a heavily edited mod in general. Asking me to improve or add more advanced stuff is like asking me to learn rocket science. I find it really hard. When people expect/want something great from me, I'm afraid that I will only disappoint them :(
