Guys, I finished making a video of how to make a character. I just want to know what you guys think if I have flaws or it's perfect. If it's perfect, I can welcome any of the admins to move this thread to Tutorials. Right now, I am uploading the remaining parts. Please point me out where I have the problem. I'm just making sure if I'm doing this correctly.

Yeah, I know. I noticed it. It's because I didn't increase limit. Now it's a must that I have to (like up to longer than 15 minutes), but the problem is I'm confused to type in the number. I don't know if I could type in the country number first or I type in the 7-digit mobile/cellphone number.

If there's anyone who has known about increasing limit, can anyone help me with the number?

EDIT: I'm talking about this on Youtube, not here. Heheh.

When im making character then i paste sprite with all its colours visible, sometimes 2 frames - front and back of the character or mouth closed and mouth open if theres some not visible colors in front view or when he open his mouth, then i paste also all effects/fireballs into the picture as well, and then i can make palette. But its better to make palette from complete spritesheet not from one frame.

Yeah, having complete spriteset in a sheet is great way to make accurate palette. My recommendation is to put character's main color as 1st colors in palette and effects (fireball, aura, shock etc) next. This makes making alternate palette easier cause we know which colors are which.

OTOH getting palette from single or just couple frames is not bad idea cause it is quick.
So if you want to save time, just get palette from single frame. But if you have extra time, do the above.

yeah but i failed a couple of times when i wanted to do palette from single image and then i realized i could og put more colours cause now i cant even add any effects, if you have sprite and you know it has about 32 colours then you can also juts paste some basic colours next to your sprite so you will have more extra colours for later, but its best to plan that kind of stuff in advance so you wont decide in the middle of character making that you want to add some special aura effects which requires blure colour but you dont have that much blue shades in your palette.

It took me a few days to figure out how to verify my account on YT. I finally verified for extending the limit on the longer length of the video. I am able to upload videos already. Now that I already uploaded them, I posted them in the first thread. I already finished recording it on Christmas day.

Good job!
Explaining the basic thing is always welcome since a lot of new users can have difficulties to undersand it. Nice job!

Any chance to see more specific video tutorial, like how to code throws (slam throws, other scripted throws)
I tried my best with the existing material. I just can succes on coding them.

Thanks.
Keep them coming!

Nice, it's good that all available information is distributed like this. .the community will grow and evolve :). There is one thing im curious about, how does one do scripting?. .i would really like to learn more about it. .

@nedflandeurse: Hmmm... Honestly I haven't attempted to experience the slamming and throws though, but I will give it a try and I'm gonna thank you if I experiment this. LOL I will spoil all my work especially Dragon Duo when recording the vid!!! LOL

@Glitch: Dude, I only know a little bit of script though. Not very much. I don't know everything about OpenBOR. LOL I only know just some of them and I'm still learning. The videos I posted are for basics, but in this thread, I tried to do it for 16 bit and I forgot to mention about video.txt for changing the colourdepth to 16bit mode. :-[ Once I try out with DC's way of applying script, maybe I could show off the basics of it.

Now I'm going to be very honest with myself and other people around here and everywhere. For the character making video, I was mostly inspired by magggas for his alternate palette video. The first part of the video, I meant to refer the link of his alternate pal vid, but I didn't show it. Maybe someday I will give his link as a reference if people don't understand about the color palette issue because there are some sprite frames that have some different or extra colors from the regular frame (specifically one of the idle frames). So I'm going to say that his alt pal video is a ref for my part 1 video.

Thanks for the requests, guys.

EDIT:
..its better to make palette from complete spritesheet not from one frame.
Yeah, that's true, bWWd. That's what I thought of needing colors for. Using a spritesheet is better for filling up extra colors for the color table.

EDIT 2:
About the aura effects, I did not prepare the effects and yeah, I should've shown it in the video. Thanks for pointing out, guys. :)

About the palette, if you use the palette and alternatepalette, you can just add the aditional colors on the frames you use as a palette. Using Fighter Factory for that is easy as a pie.

Yeah, you can possibly make a default become the alternatepal and have one of the alternate palettes as a default one. For color swapping, not only do you change or swap the colors in the image, but from the color table (mostly any photoshop program).

This is how I switch a default palette to alternate palette like this:

Code:
palette	data/chars/billy/cvsmap.png
alternatepal data/chars/billy/idle01.png

EDIT: magggas already covered up on the alternate palettes video, so that means I don't need to make the same one.

Is it okay if I have some of my mistakes shown in the tutorial or not if I got a new remake of a character tutorial? I can let you guys see this and point me out if you notice. I will upload parts later. I feel like every time I record a tutorial of OpenBOR myself, I get nervous during recording and I get slow. I tried to be quick as I could. (This topic is meant to be basic character creating.)

Hey maxMan.

Great job on the video's/tutorials :o.

I might reccomend to use the set via mouse (or ctrl) every now and then so that people can see there are multiple ways of settings box's.

Look forward to seeing more.

Ps, also remember that you can drag and drop images (from explorer) onto the character editor (only add's images to the end.)

Thanks, MatMan. :) Yeah. You know, after I did the video, I started to mess around with the mouse thingy as you said. I didn't know about it until I started to go to set via mouse. And yes, I redid the character making tutorial just for a quick progress for showing (setting via mouse is included). But I haven't started to upload it though. I'll upload my redone version.

Ps, also remember that you can drag and drop images (from explorer) onto the character editor (only add's images to the end.)
How do I do that? (Explorer?)

just drag the pictures from Explorer to the animation are of the program while you are on the Editor mode. Its very useful.

I just miss to change the offset freely just by dragging the picture.

What Explorer? Internet Explorer? Can't understand. I'm not mad. I just don't know where I could find it.

EDIT: What explorer are you talking about?
