Faderhead's Fistful of F*** You

Complete Faderhead's A Fistful of F*** You 2.0

Project is completed.
This thing with everyone having trouble hitting the dogs... As said by fredo46, use the characters' downward attacks. This is simply because players are not checking the 'How To.' It contains the move list as well.

As for the limited number of sprites, as I've stated, this will not change. This will be the last time I address this issue.

Wow~! Game looks too heavy. Lemme know when the mod is lighter (listen to the man, man) ;D

As for this issue. I will not be reducing the size of the game. Maybe if I had known from the beginning that it could've been reduced... But not at this point. The game runs fine on PC, Wii & Mac.

I say this being a major fan of the music - the game needs a little bit of work. As I work with labels, (yes even Metropolis)  I know how successful a marketing campaign this game can be for the industrial acts featured within it. There's nothing like playing a game where your favorite band battles their way to a live show and if done right, the fans will eat it up. Problem is, it doesn't feel complete. The graphics look professional, but the control is terrible. The characters are definitely missing quite a bit of frames, plus a kick option for those dogs would be necessary. The characters life bars diminish quickly, and some of the bosses are so spammy that you don't even get a chance to fight back. One bottle equals a KO? The game just doesn't feel complete and reminds me of some cheap flash game that you would only be able to play online via the band's website. I appreciate what you've done here, but the game is pretty broken and needs some major fixes before I would even think of talking with the label about it, or allowing the bands to distribute it freely on their websites. Publicists love this stuff, but it needs to work.

Ha, this is funny, considering I worked with Faderhead to make this game and Sam is currently promoting it already. Broken and major fixes? Haha!

As for the difficulty...

FaderheadsFistfulofFuckYouHiScores.png

I collected ALL 8 albums (40,000 pts), 4 eps (4,000 pts) & 11 music videos (825,000 pts).
I consumed all 10 drinks in the Bonus Level (5,500 pts).
I did not use any continues.
And no, I did not use any cheats.
I beat the game with all 4 characters in 2 hours, roughly half an hour each.

Faderhead w/ 1 life remaining.
Daniel w/ 10 lives remaining.
Joe w/ 8 lives remaining.
The Lord w/ 8 lives remaining.

Tips:

Faderhead: Use his extended move list. Crouch punch works wonders on Bouncers & bosses!

Daniel: You can’t be hit while moving. Not sure what more I can say.

Joe: Key word, Firenado… And don’t get knocked down.

The Lord: Jump attack. Jump attack. Jump attack.

Exploit your character strengths. Ex: The Lord can hover over holes… Hint hint. Wink wink.

While we’re on the subject, use the environment. Ex: Knock Tim into that hole in Level 6…

Conserve lives. Don’t spend them carelessly.

When fighting groups, defeat the more threatening enemies first… 1:Dogs, 2:Bums, 3:Bouncers.

Don’t forget there is a block button. It renders you nearly invincible as long as you’re mashing it!

Use your special! That’s why it’s there! You can always build it back by beating more guys up.

…And for Faderhead’s sake, plan ahead when using your special or picking up health items!

Also plan when hunting down the albums & eps. Your time is limited when the boss drops it!

Waiting for that video to appear & Graves is kicking your ass? Use block until it does!

Thank you all for the input!

Thanks to Bloodbane and those who helped along the way!

Thanks to you guys who have been watching this project unfold for the last several months!

Thanks for all the positive comments!

...As for you guys complaining about the size of the file, you're a little picky.

That was kinda...rude.
but, well, ok.

Rude? Some of these comments I'm seeing here are a little more rude than what I said.

I am with NSW25 here:
Dude i cant believe you said that, these guys have spent the time playing your game and giving you feedback to improve your game and you shrug it off ?

What I gave you is called "feedback". Real life is not like Mary Poppins, where "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" If you don't want feedback, don't post it publically. Neither use the Pollyanna principle

I've spent a lot of time playing that game, reviewing what it could be improved and you had used this as an argument:

Especially for playing a free game.
Remember, you guys are not playing a commercial game

Sorry, but its just an excuse. We all are making free games, everyone are aware of this.
And this sounds HORRIBLE, its like "here, thake this free shit and don't complain".

DC said to me to just SQUASH this type of drama behaviour. But I don't want to do it, not right now.

Look the feedback I gave to NSW on his game - and see how he had handled it: http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?topic=1751.msg22507#msg22507

For sure, you can just ignore feedback from anyone and not learn from the mistakes. Its up to you.

Wow, yes let's not be dramatic, let me explain.

I worked on this game like it was my second job. Hundreds of hours. Learning how to use OpenBOR and the programming language.

And I did use A LOT of help from community members. And I am thankful for that.

But rude is leaving comments like thefallenalchemist left, without any recognition for the features/mechanics of the game that I did make work, and yes, especially for my first mod.

I have played many other 'complete' mods that simply did not feel complete and were left half assed. And I obviously won't mention which ones... THAT would be rude.

By all means O Ilusionista, I meant no offense to you or anyone else. I simply choose not to redo hours of work just to fix a few minor details. And once again I thank you all for your input.

Sorry, but he wasn't rude at all. I agree with almost everything he said:

I even spotted many of the points he gave above.

No, this is your opinion and its a feedback which is IMPORTANT. Maybe the author doesn't knows about this "incomplete" feeling, why dont you give a hand to him and say this? If you don't want to post it publically, send a PM. And I agree with you, I think some of complete games feels, to me, a bit incomplete or even boring. Specially the older ones. And I said it to some of the authors.

Nobody is trying to dismiss you. We are trying to HELP you.
I am no better then anyone here, I am still a rookie. But I try to learn from the other people (and mind) mistakes.

See ya.

The control is TERRIBLE? Broken and major fixes? This game is not 'broken' and the controls are certainly not 'terrible'. And the other issues of the boss difficulty and character strengths/moves are simply his lack of knowing the moves list (which is included in the 'How To').

My game is large. Yes the PC version has a few hicups every now and then. But it never crashes. And yes the Wii version's cutscenes run at 1/2 speed. But I've had mods not even play on the Wii and or crash when I was halfway into them.

And as I said before, I want to know if there are any BUGS, but please no creative changes and requests. The size of a file is not a bug.

So if there is someone who sees a certain potential in this project that I don't and would like to take the helm and fix the large file size or the lack of frames, then I'd be more than excited to hand the project over and see what they come up with.

But I find that I would be 'picky' if I devoted days if not weeks of work to redo and decrease quality of cutscenes and the entire soundtrack just to fix a minor hicup.

As my final post for this project, I would like to thank you all for playing the game. It has been quite a project and experience. After ALL the testing, I am satisfied that the only flaws are the huge file and a few shallow animations and I apologize for not addressing these issues better, but I simply do not have the time to commit to this project any further. I feel confident that this game is finished, and I hope it serves to give you a few challenges and cheap laughs. Thank you all again for your time!

Great. So Faderhead is now promoting the game. Just as I expected. It was hastily rushed out and I'm sure the fans will realize this. The reason you aren't going to fix the game is simple: It's too much work to keep sending new versions to the band every time. They don't have enough time in their schedules for all that. The fixes in so far as MP3 to ogg take only a few seconds. The fixes in cut scenes would not take long either. But to fix the sprites and gameplay itself would require a major investment. Faderhead deserve much better than this. But I suppose KMFDM would get the same treatment.

At any rate, I like the idea and appreciate the attempt here but it is obvious that you just wanted to get out a product with no real regard or worry for it's reception. Just wait until the fans get a hold of it. Wait until the gamers get a hold of it. Once the complaints on size, playability and a myriad of other feedback come in, you'll be working on it again. Just like most major devs. Release it broken and full of bugs, for the players to find so that you can fix it later. You sure that you don't work for EA?

My apologies to the OpenBOR community, but this really burns me up. Both the bands and the fans deserve better.

OK, time for me to step in because I can already tell what's coming next.

@thefallenalchemist: It's alright to offer constructive criticism. It is NOT OK to get personal and your post went over the line.

@socialautopsy: It's OK to politely disagree with critics. It's not OK to dismiss and shoot them down when you are the one who promoted the project for dissemination. Your work be free, but so is our forum.

I'm ending this here and now. The next person to continue will be muted with no further warnings.

DC

I have no desire to get personal. So my apologies in general. Being that I work in the music industry I may have went overboard just a bit. I do believe he said that this would be his final post about the game at any rate. Nothing else needs to be said.
