Dungeons and Dragons: Rise of Warduke

Complete Dungeons & Dragons: NEW RELEASE! 0.1.0

Project is completed.
Hello,

I discovered the mention of this game a week ago and reading the review linked sounded really impressive and having been a fan of the old capcom knight of round, king of dragons and their 2 D&D games , this one got my attention.

After downloading openbor and having some pain to gather the 18 parts of the latest patched version of the game itself from the post of netspider1, i started to have lot of fun this week, it's really an amazing piece of work, congratulations for this game.

So far i completed only several quests, the latest was to protect the caravan back to the fort, after saving a few elvenfolks that were captured in the north.

This level was great as we were fighting as a group instead of me being lonely by myself and it made it very enjoyable.
The only problem was that the scrolling was stopping waiting for the caravan to reach a certain point before scrolling resumed, meaning half of the attackers were always off screen and i had to wait for my AI group to deal with them as the enemies were out of reach :/

But it reminded me of what i read , apparently you can hire mercenaries, and i simply can't find any.
I talked to everyone in street and in shops in the town, the fort or the elven glade but everything that had a sprite that looked like a possible mercenary never gave me a hiring possibility.
In the fort there was one guy that said he was a mercenary but there's no option to hire him, there's a dog too, that is obviously an animal and not a mercenary, and the dialogue basically tells that the little bugger is ready to follow me.

But he does not, as i had a few random encounter while moving around probably going to save that abducted healer, and still my dwarf was all by himself, depressed and lonely :D

So far i have avoided reading more about this in order to try to not spoil myself but i'm a bit at a loss, so my question is : where are those mercs that i am supposed to be able to hire ?

edit : just ran into a game breaking bug sadly

Iin the quest to save whatshisname apparently a healer from the fort captured by a bunch of orcs led by an orc shaman,
In what i assume was the end of that level, i destroyed the shaman as quickly as possible then fought against the warriors and the catapults remaining, once i was the last dwarf standing, nothing else happened, no scrolling or exit or end level

I had to quit and reload, that put me back at the start of that level, beat down every orc again, but this time killed the catapults and orcs without harming the orc shaman, then proceeded to axe kill him and again same bug, impossible to progress further the level does not end.

Hi Robsoie,

The bug you found is most likely an orc spawning and getting stuck on one of the fences.  Just restart the level, kill all the orcs and break the wooden barricades as you go forward.  It's rare this bug happens.

Once you've rescued the healer and also protected the caravan, you'll get a quest to liberate a town called Grabford.  Once you do so, it will open up and there will be shops.  You can hire mercenaries in the tavern.

The dog will follow you around if you're the Thief (you can change characters at the inn), but if you prefer the dwarf - keep playing he gets a really cool 'pet'.

ok i actually had the same issue, next time ill break everything. i really enjoyed this, would have liked to beat it.

I downloaded the game at the time of its release and tried it, but the 999 lives demotivated me (they where too many to motivate me to go on and play with some strategy). Now I would like to start a serious campaign, so: how many lives where intended to be in the release? Could you release a life patch, or where should I modify the number of lives so I can do it by myself?

And another question: I’ve this patch, SmallD&Dpatch2.rar size 57,9 KB, is there any other essential patch to download and install?
Thank you for the game and for the reply.

Open the DATA folder and go to levels.txt
You'll see the amount of lives near the top you can tweak it there.  It's a veeeeeery long game, so there was no 'intended lives' because we didn't want people to run out after investing days of their real lives in the games.

That smaller patch should be all you need.

You're right, I see. http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?topic=2240.msg30357#msg30357

I'll try with 50 lives...

I wish I had a better answer for you - think of this more as a 2D Elder Scrolls, instead of an arcade masher.  Or, if it makes you feel better, you can Paypal me a quarter for every 3 lives you lose;)

No problem, then I'll set it to 50 lives for now. I can’t compare its difficulty to Elder Scrolls because I abandoned 3D gaming many years ago also because it was too much costly, generally easy and spoon-feeding players, anyway I briefly “tested” your game at its release until the 2nd or 3rd quest, and I noticed that I’ve to be careful.

This sounds like the legend about the wheat (or rice) and chessboard, I won’t fall for this trap, hahaha. (Un)fortunately I don’t have any Paypal account or similar so I am safe from bankruptcy, but indeed I would like sometimes to support amateur developers under certain conditions. Now I am going to apply the aforementioned things, thank you again for everything.

FYI - I used about 200 lives to figure out some of the stuff for the D&D ROW guide.

50 lives will be adequate ... unless you're really into farming gold (I hack my stuff in - sorry BB & Monte, but it's more fun for me that way. LOL

Hello,

it doesn´t work in my psp3000. In loading models about 25% the psp restart. Any idea?.  I have another versión of Dungeons & Dragons Rise of Warduke, 3.0. and it Works ok.

Thanks you¡

Hey there. I have been searching. I know this game has been out for a while. But i cannot find a download to save my life haha. Any help?

This game never stops amazing me! The only thing I wanted changed in this game was that characters like thief, bard, elf and paladin can't do their combo with the magic swords. Do any of you know how to change that? It's still cool to use the swords, but it gets boring after a time of just delivering one hit andthe enemy falling to the ground.

thanks again  for the awesome game

Glad to hear you're enjoying this game :D

As for disabling combo, there's no easy n direct way to do that unfortunately

Eventually I'll release a detailed full guide for this game,  I wish I've had the free time.  Today I thought I'd post about how to get the Vorpal Blade.
The Vorpal Blade is a magic sword that is so powerful it has a small chance to kill any enemy, including bosses, with one hit.

To get it you must first find the 5 magic swords hidden throughout the game, then go to the Barbarian's Camp at the top right of the world map and trade all 5 in exchange for the Vorpal Blade.

If you play through the game, doing the Story (red marker) quests, and some of the side (green marker) quests, as they appear on the world map, you'll unlock the missions described below.  Some story missions won't appear until you finish others.

Here's how to find the 5 swords:

1.  To get the Flame Sword - Finish the Liberate Grabford quest, and talk to the Mayor of Grabford.  Go to the Fortress of Fangs dungeon after the Mayor of Grabford gives you the quest.  It's in a chest in the final room.

2.  To get the Wind Sword - Get the flying carpet (trade 20 Wyvern Scales to Pierwolf in Willip Town.  You can use acid bombs or poison globe to kill wyverns and they'll drop the scales.  They are easier to find in Random Encounters near Rift Canyon.    Once you have the flying carpet there's a floating Wind Dungeon about the Nyr Dyv sea, and near the end is a treasure chest with the Wind Sword in it.

3.  To get the Holy Avenger - finish the Unmask the Spy Quest and capture Drex, get the Map to Vangles and use a gold key to open the chest.
To Unmask the Spy, talk to Molliver in the Grabford tavern, Sharine in the Littleberg Tavern, and then to Figgen (lockpick vendor).  He tells you to go in sewers and speak to Foxfingers.  Make sure your health is full, then go back to Chendl tavern and confront Drex.  If it looks like Drex will escape, quit and restart the level.  You need to capture him .  Next, On the Steal the Map quest In Grunlend Keep, activate all the pull chains and floor plates to open the first locked room.  Get the mysterious note in the treasure chest and take it to Molliver in Grabford Tavern.  She'll decode it, giving the location of Vangles (Drex's hideout).  Holy Avenger is there (need gold key to unlock gold chest).

4.  To get the Frost Sword - go in hidden jail cell in Dorakaa Jail (Rescue Earl Holmer quest) and find note.  That puts Hidden Treasure marker on world map near Dorakaa.  There's a big demon guarding the cave and you can't enter for now.  Near the end of the game, once all demons are banished with Crook of Rao, (complete the'Retrieve the Crook of Rao' story mission and speak to Canon Hazen in Littleberg to perform the demonic exorcism).  You can enter the treasure cave.  Need gold key. The Frost sword is in the gold chest on top of the stone coffin.

5.  To get the Electricity Sword - Enter the Hippodrome arena and defeat the lower and middle ranks first, then when the Master (final) rank is unlocked defeat it and your prize is the Electricity Sword.
