Dungeons and Dragons: Rise of Warduke

Complete Dungeons & Dragons: NEW RELEASE! 0.1.0

No permission to download
Project is completed.
Thank you Naton :D

Why can't some characters combo enemies with some weapons?

Have you tried holding Up or Forward while comboing as Jarred or Cavalier?

OK, but... what are those candles? The whispers?

Ah I see, after talking with all ghosts, you'll be attacked by some undeads. Kill them all and a portal should appear. Enter the portal and you'll find the torches mentioned by the ghosts there
Be warned though, there's another clue inside ;)

Oh, I did. The cavalier and the fighter are incredible combo-wise. I found it a little weird that the thief and the elf can't combo with the flame sword, holy avenger and others... well, the thief can backstab for big damage, but the elf is kinda stuck with low to medium damage, even with his spells. Well, hybrid characters tent to be master of none.

By the way, my computer had loading problems (some stuff with the SATA cable). I could not enter on the markers on the map instantly... it took a long time, and it could put me on more random encounters.
What I mean is: the game is even better now that my computer is working. The bugs I referred before are not happening again... should be load problems. This game is script heavy and a faulty data transfer could mix something, I guess. Now it is perfect. It is my favourite openbor mod, together with Jennifer and Knights and Dragons - The Endless Quest. They are kinda different so there is no way to compare.
Gotta love you guys working for giving quality old-school style fun for the seasoned gamers that stumble upon the OPENBOR community. I can't even begin to describe how muck I like your mod, how you got help from great modders and created this masterpiece. I like this more than Dragon's Crown and the likes.

Sincerely, thank you for this.

Hello Count Monte & Bloodbane

I'm not sure if either of you guys care about bug-fixing this project anymore (esp. since WOTC / Capcom are asking for takedowns across the board), but on my game, the whole game crashes back to Windows/desktop when the second page of SPELLS tries to load in Littleburg's Magic Emporium.

On full screen mode, the game blacks out and crashes; on windowed mode, I could see that there were two shield/wall spells (one fire and one thunder/lightning). I suppose I can live without those spells, but just an FYI. So far, the game has proven very stable (and old school).

I do wish that instead of "auto-exiting" a map once an encounter (any encounter, random or story) is cleared, that an exit point be made so players can exit manually ... or make the "auto-exit" window longer (say 60 seconds ... maybe with a simple on-screen timer). I missed a spell scroll when my toon died in the missing caravan sidequest and got booted to the world map :-(

Thanks!

BTW - here's the full solution (or at least the solution I used) for Critwall's riddle about the Necklace of Flame (highlight for solve).

Naturally, speak to all the NPCs for the torch clues. The torches in the second part (kill all the undead in the foggy wrecked town to spawn the portal) are placed out of order. I got the order of the torches by killing them and noting the target name in the enemy lifebar area.

Great puzzle concept ... bad, layout of the puzzle (no room for a clockface layout, I see).

The torches to extinguish (kill) without killing the specter in the same room are: 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, and 11; however, the placement of the torches are either mixed up or random. The placement of the torches in the room are as follows:

9 - 7 - 2 - 12 - 4 - 1

3 - 11 - 5 - 8- 10 - 6

The specter's speech triggers once you go past torches 7 and 11 (at least for me). Once the correct torches are KO'ed, go into the left door for the treasure room.

By and by, I found some more bugs in the D&D:ROW build (aside from Shannon's wolf summon, but I grabbed Bloodbane's patch from a few pages back):

1 - After getting the Dragon Egg, and having 100K gold pieces, the Greyhawk animal trainer refuses to train the dragon (maybe a story trigger is missing?).

2 - The Dwarven city's weapon shop, where one can get the Predator Disc and some of the Golem Parts has a dead menu (nothing clicks; only jumping will cancel out the chat menu).

3 - The Littelberg Magic Emporium still crashes the game when the second page of Spells are loaded.

Thanks!

Since I'm probably not going to replay D&D:ROW for a little bit, I'm going to leave a few tips for people who are going to get stuck. The solution to the torch puzzle I posted a few responses back (on page 15).

Here's the Maze Cave solve:
The sign at the entrance refers to going certain directions once your party is at the screen with the four possible exits; go right, up, left, down, right to locate the treasure room.

If you need Troll Fat (for the Vitality Upgrade at Willup):
There's a random troll encounter on the lake where you can buy passage on a ship (and the only instance you can move your marker on water without a flying carpet). The encounter always appears above and to the right of the tornado icon on the map; when you go into the fight, if two Troglodytes and one Slime spawn in the first wave, the troll will appear soon after one of the enemies is killed. Burning Oil (or the Flame Sword) will let you collect the troll fat (killing blow has to be fire damage).

The Maze Cave also has trolls, if you're inclined to dungeon crawl.

If you need Wyvern Scales (for the Flying Carpet at Willup):
Wyverns spawn in the mountains; try the mountains near the Maze Cave icon (above the Ranger Glade). The acid bombs can be purchased in the town where you defeat the Iuz Cleric (forgot the name ATM). On my version, the acid bombs are bought from the dwarf's menu by buying "Holy Water" (bug). wyverns need to be killed by acid bomb poison and they will drop the scale.

If you need Dark Skulls (for the Magic Upgrade at Willup):
Take a cleric or paladin and Turn Undead in the mountain encounters north of Doraka (sp?). The Death Knights will drop a single skull each time they are destroyed by the turning ability.

Hi sng-ign, I don't understand why you could not access many shops and dialogues. Maybe you're running out of memory or something :)
But for Dragon trainer, yes there's a glitch with her dialogue, you can get fixed dialogue in this link below:

https://www.mediafire.com/?ac5p9uh7j3zt1au
Thanks for the patch Bloodbane.

As for the dialogue, I have no idea why Charmy (that's the NPC's name I think) cannot trigger the dialogue. I have a single Dimsdale that spawned in a Golem on the screen prior to meeting Charmy (but on Charmy's screen, the follower is gone; I assume it is for memory and stuff).

If you have the time, may you please check out my bor.sav and see what is going on? I would like to finish the game you guys/gals worked for 5+ years on (yeah, I found the 1.0 version from 2011 ...). It's a lot more interesting than Knights and Dragons (pierswolf's previous D&D game ... that thing needs to be rebalanced, LOL).

Thank you.

Dimsdale at Charmy's sub-quest (after the raft ride / stuck game w/ no dialogue) -- https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxHKLe-QyHlQcEZkbF96S0tlWVk

Nope. The patch didn't work Bloodbane. The dragon trainer still refuses to train the dragon. I doubt you want to keep working on this, but here's the .SAV and .S00 files for your perusal.

EDIT: Also an update on the Red (mandatory) Charmay quest. It runs into the same problem as before - the NPC does not trigger dialogue or have any place to go on the screen where she's floating in front of the cave (I don't suppose the choice of character matters).

On the bright side, I've taken to editing the .S00 file for items and guessed the "FrostSw" item. What did you guys name the "earth" sword? If I can't finish the game, I at least want to trade them in for the Blade of Corusk (sp?) and waste that invincible demon in the north.

I've checked it and you're right, I forgot to set something in the level you're stuck at
If you want to fix it yourself, open data/levels folder and find lairE.txt

Add load CharmayD like this:

...

load CharmayD

nojoin 1
at 0

light 0 -128
at 0

spawn rain
coords 150 242
at 0

spawn rain
coords 450 242
at 0

spawn Charmay
alias CharmayD
coords 410 140 1
at 0

spawn LairEn
#item ExitD
coords 550 140
at 0

Though I can't check the problem with Dragon Trainer as for some reason, your bor.sav file 'says' that the dragon has been trained
I'll cancel some variables for further check :)

What did you guys name the "earth" sword?

There's no earth sword in this game ;). But there is Earth Axe, Axe of Dwarven Lords to be exact

Code:
and waste that invincible demon in the north.

;D Good spirit you have there! You can't kill that demon buuuut there is another way to get rid of that demon  ;)

No surprise, all 3 possible resources for download are gone. No way to download  :'(
Btw, why games are not uploaded on chronocrash host? For example Lavalit had an upload repository

If I recall there was something about capcom not liking this game or somesuch? might be confused, but I believe that's why they are not hosting it here in this game, it's up to the players to pass it around at this point.

Nope. WOTC (who owns Magic the Gathering and bought TSR/Dungeons and Dragons) issued a C&D to Chronocrash.

Too bad ... the game is much effing better than MTG 6th Ed. or anything "official" than Wizards put out recently.

Cool ... I'll see about doing that coding patch Bloodbane (and see what happens).

As for the "Earth" sword, I figured out either SpecSw, HolySw, or VorpalBlade would be the last Blade of Corusk. I was also "forcing in" random stuff from the data/sprites directory for StrongHeart's last ally but couldn't get anything going (without the game crashing, LOL).

I'll try your patch first, then go about cheating my arse off. It's pretty nifty to give myself Troll Fat, Dark Skulls, etc. for the Willup shop stuff instead of farming it. Heh.

Also - Gold now has no meaning for me, bwahaha.

EDIT: Dope. Who knew that missing one line of code will screw over everything :-\ Thanks Bloodbane!

Fudge. I think the Loftwick inn has a bad exit portal. I cannot leave after changing characters :-(

Would you mind checking on this Bloodbane? Sorry ...

Awesome game. it's masterpiece. I'm starting to play it.
Btw, just to let you know, the game shrink from 263MB to 178MB after passed through my tool for deleting orphan music files and archive with 7z, just for info if you consider uploading or downloading it can squeeze with 1/3
Thank you for the great job

Uhm, no, they didn't. Please don't post "facts" unless you know the facts. Stuff like this quickly snowballs and causes problems later. Thus far, Chronocrash as a group has never been contacted by IP owners, ever. And if they did contact us we would ignore them because the forum itself violates no US copyright law.

We develop and legitimately own the OpenBOR engine. Individual forum members develop the modules which may contain assets and IP that is protected by copyright law. The developers of this D&D module were the ones contacted and asked to cease.

As a community the worst thing that could possibly happen is we'd have to close access to the Downloads section for modules that contain disputed assets, and that is highly unlikely to ever happen.

Thanks for clarifying Damon Caskey :)

Aah, that one. Alright, I'll fix it, give me a moment :)

BTW Bloodbane - who is the NPC in the boat (evil quest?)? His dialogue box does not appear; maybe I can locate his script-a-ma-jiggee and modify some values.

P.S. Pirate2S.c needs some modifications to the 2P area so that player slot can change characters (my fix doesn't fix it 100% awesome, but the right half of the words are click-able, which works OK for me).
