In Progress Creating a TMNT mod suggestions comments ideas?

The project is currently under development.
Another rough test edit of Be-Bop - it's pretty wack - just experimenting, but you get the idea.  Need a another base to try, this one is better for rocksteady, but maybe it could be used for both.

I'm waiting and keen to see what therain has cooking, he's better at this kinda thing.  His leatherhead inspired me to not be lazy and just make proper edits.  I jsut thought leatherhead, bebop and rocksteady would be way too hard.  But some suitable heads and bodies is all we needed. The be-bop head is from here

@ suicidalovesong - Cool, thanks for the heads up.  I had planned to try something like this,  I think Mikey and Don really need new stances.

I was going to send it anyway for advice/feedback, been trying to get it sorted to upload something.  Will upload something tonight.  Check your PM's soon.
 
sorry for the late reply but I like the head you came up with for bebop I haven't come up with much yet I wanted to try to make Master Splinter as playable too but I've had no luck with his tail yet also a few stages and still editing rocksteady.

Splinter looks awesome! nice work.  I wanted to eventually add him too somehow, hadn't tried anything thou. he'll be great as the unarmed badass of the group.

I like the darker brown head 2nd from the bottom, I think it suits him more.  What base did you use for him?
Can't think of sprite for a tail, just keep working on him, we can find something later, if not have to try and draw it.

These stages are really nice too!
I had that oriental background in mind, the foot clan symbol is a nice touch!

So with your mod you are going to continue from what bWWd had left of his mod? using his turtle sprites?

Master Splinter is perfect! The base is Houoh from Ninja Masters, if I am not wrong.
Question: What playables you plan to do? The 4 turtles, Casey and Splinter? Will you add any other?
What about that Venus de Milo?

The Kraang are just the utroms reworked for the new series (haven't really seen much of it)

After the turtles, casey and splinter - I wanted to try and add some chars like the Mutant Animals.  Also it would be cool to have slash as playable.  I was thinking could have one off missions playing as bad guys or other chars.  Kinda like TMNT micro series comics.

I think it would be cool to make any char I possibly can if there's a suitable base.  I saw a good base for the 'Alopex' the artic fox (or for 'Ninjara' the fox from archie series), but now I forget what the sprite was :( Must not of saved it, or lost on my HDD somewhere.

IMO it doesn't matter about sticking to one series.  It's TMNT, barely anything is canon.  Every iteration is different and has new characters.  So it's easy to blend them together for a game.
 
Yea TMNT is not especially consistent with characters outside of April Casey Splinter and the turtles and O you nailed another base. And atleast for me they are the Utrom not the krang not a huge fan of that change for the show. I thought about making Venus but I couldnt really find a base but she wasnt high on the list for me anyway the plan for me is the 4 turtles casey splinter and Usagi Yojimbo, but I am open to more if I find good bases.

The plan was originally to use bwwd sprites but I'm not even close to in his league with that stuff so it may be easier to stick with the original sprites but I'm not 100% either way yet.

I wasn't sure about giving splinter a cane/stick or not but i do kind of the like idea that hes a master and doesnt really need a weapon. I made the different heads just to represent each version of splinter in case people have a preference for a certain version same is with the turtles. Also Beastie if you remember that Alopex base let me know she was somebody i wanted to include as well.

Rocksteady looks more badass than ever. (perhaps too much contrast on the pants - this is just a detail...)

Splinter is OK to me. Beebop will bee better with a more defined palette too... ;)

For some reason, this "Venus de Milo" reminds me of MK3 era artworks...

I found his sprites at IMT so those luckily have his staff attacks included so thanks for the heads up Beastie do you prefer Splinter with a weapon or barehanded? I don't really have a preference so I'll leave it up to you
 
I havent decided if I do I'll make the hand wrap white so it would look like the feet does I'll probably just give him the cane then and have him mix it up between using it and hand to hand combat.

Also still editing rocksteady his pants are to light versus his shirt but can be fixed easily.

This is gonna sound like a really dumb question still rather new to this since I have been mostly working on sprites but I'm making a sewer stage and wanted to confirm if it would be possible to go in the water and on the platform and not just have one or the other.

If you do it by palette editing, you could have variations of both by switching palettes.  So one pal the white is brown, in others it's white etc.


Nah not dumb question - it's possible, I've never done it before,  but OpenBOR supports platforms and walls.  G.I Joe mod should have some examples of this.  (I know it has a water stage and has platforms, have not played it much thou)
 
Some feedback:

- Beastie, I think you should remove the transparency from the blood, since blood isnt that translucent.
- The blood is kinda too bright, it needs to be a tad darker
- I think there is too much blood from a single sai slash, but that is me.
- About the sewer stage above, the floor tiles angle is clashing with the water angle, you should flip the floor.
- The floor is blurried, will you fix it?
 
the blood is from another mod and just added as place holder, pretty much all that stuff is.  too much blood cause it is default flash atm :p

Will probably redo most of it over again now, re-plan the moves/combos etc.  Want to make some new attacks if possible, like raph holding sai backwards.  Maybe give mikey his grappling hook (forget the name)

Probably should redo some enemy sprites too, try and resize them better.

:D the water stage is just regular stage using special weapon model. Nothing special
If you want effect in which legs are partially submerged, you won't find it in GI Joe mod
I don't have a good trick to make that effect yet

What you really need is jumpmove 7 7 to allow players to move while jumping. This will allow you to jump back to floor after going to watery part

You can check WD's TMNT mod, you will find there. But the code is...well, see for yourself :)

Any plans for Chromedome and the other chars from the SNES game? And would be cool if you could add some chars from the Genesis game, but dunno about the size, the style, etc
 
Ah yeah I knew WD had done it, sounded pretty complicated.  Can worry about it later, I don't think we'll need to many sewer stages like this.

Was going to try and use any of the available sprites I can.  I had some ideas for playable chars, but I've tried to focus on getting the main ones done first.

Chromedome will be a boss for sure, might be nice playable too.  A few enemies I want to make playable just for fun, like Ratking and Shredder.  Some allied chars may be introduced as bosses first, or npc's.  Leatherhead was a mutant animal and often an ally so can make him playable.  From genesis game I'm using the triceraton sprites, there's an episode from 2003 series where one was briefly an ally to the turtles, so that could be done too.

Already plan to add Man Ray/Ray Fillet and Wingnut sprites from tournament fighters, and I was going to add Karai as a boss, hadn't decided which version of her sprites yet.  Armaggon will also be a boss (the mutant shark guy).

I also really want to add slash.  I considered adding april, but maybe using the aska sprites as her.  In archie series leonardo trains her to use a katana.

Just to clarify, what versions of TMNT are you fond of most?
Have you ever read any or the original tmnt or the archie comics?

@Bloodbane - hey whatever works, it's still a method. It looks really good in game which is all that matters.
