In Progress "Comic Stars Fighting" Remake concept

The project is currently under development.
Sounds like a fun nostalgia project! Fighting feature creep is the real endgame boss when working on any fangame. For the enemy sprites, maybe check out some of the old GBA Bleach or Dragon Ball Z asset sheets? They usually fit that aesthetic pretty well. Good luck with the project.
Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure kinda has usable sprites but there's nothing from the Bleach games I can use, the DS games' proportions aren't the "pocket" style of JUS.

fair point on the bleach ds sprites. they definitely look too "tall" compared to the jus style. maybe check out some assets from the old one piece gba games or even some fan-made sheets on spriters resource? finding decent enemies that don't look out of place is always a massive pain in openbor projects. can't wait to see how kenshin turns out though, good luck tho !

I'm currently using the pirate enemies from One Piece GBA and i'll get to making the marines from the same game sometime soon

CSS Mockup.png

Made a mockup of what i'd want the CSS to look like - greyed out portraits will be baked onto the player select background, while the colorized portraits and the images of them in the corners and name text will be done with the "select" animations.

Turns out I was wrong about Kazuki's sprites limiting his moveset (sort of, i feel like he's as underwhelming as Ichigo turned out), I just saw eight directions he could go in and thought "I can't use this". Also, I replaced the super and burst effects.

Ace complete (his falling animation was easier to do than I thought) + a very empty-looking stage select. I got the general layout done for the stage select, but there's no entity graphics - I spent quite a bit of time trying to redo the layout from v3.6 of Comic Stars Fighting's stage select and since the map is just an image taken from somewhere and making it 8-bit results in color loss, I went and did RGB separation for that.

Sorry for the bad gameplay the controls somehow mapped jump to the "H" key and idk how that happened.
