What is a Proper Way to Give the Original Source/Creators Credits?

Hello everyone,

First of all, I have never created my own game before, so I don't know a proper way to give the original source/creators credits.
I have seen a lot of people on Youtube edited and uploaded the clips from the movies or video games to their Youtube channels.
They even uploaded the full songs to their channels....
Then they created a disclaimer statement something like
"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. No copyright infringement intended. "
I am taking some summon cutscenes from Final Fantasy RPG games and made webm videos and sprites for my game.
My game will be fan-made, hobby, and non-profit. Cutscenes will be from Final Fantasy series, a few from Devil May Cry series.
Ice, Fire, Freeze, etc. sprites and some cutscenes for skills from MK11 and MK1.
I am planning to give them full credits.

Sorry if someone else has asked this question before, thank you very much

What you are talking about does not constitute fair use. It is copyright violation, pure and simple. However, so is pretty much every fan creation ever made. Most companies just sort of overlook fanworks because it isn't worth their time and money to chase down every script kiddie on this green Earth.

Give credit however you see fit, but do keep in mind in the unlikely event an IP owner decides to take notice, Fair Use is a very narrow definition. Under no circumstances does it include use of assets or IPs in your game creations. Copyright not only gives the right to IP owners to protect all parts of their work, it also obligates them to (or else they risk losing control of it).

Getting straight to the point: This copyright disclaimer won't guarantee anything. Since you are using someone else's IP, they have the right to take down the content if they wish.

In some cases, the rights holder allows content to go online (like a song, for example) but all income obtained from the video - whether monetized or not - goes to the IP holders.

And even if you only use a piece of the content, the same thing can happen. I use a Power Rangers song in the Sega Genesis version and, even so, the YouTube system detects this and any monetization is shared with the IP holders.

But this varies from case to case. Some companies, like Disney, tend to block the video completely. Sega, for example, took down Zvitor's entire website because of the Golden Ax game.

Copyright Shmopyrite...

if they want to take your fan made creation down , they will.

that said be kind and do awcknowledge everything by someone else somewhere...

i prefer a big fast scrolling video with as many names (preferably in the thusands) as you can with benny hill music

extra points if its the vanishing scroll from starwars

Greatly appreciated for your input guys.
We all use the sprites and characters from different games, so almost all of us are under copyright violation somehow unless we actually create sprites by ourselves.
To be honest, my webm videos from their games with full credit can only benefit them
because my game won't hurt their profit in anyway, and when people play my game, they will see the Disclaimer of the full list of games.
I am actually advertising their games for free.
I am actually creating this game for myself :-) and of course I would love to share it with others.
So if they want to take it down, I am fine with it.
I just don't have time to learn how to create the graphics stuff by myself.
