Canceled TMNT MOD by BeasTie

Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.
I tried to endure that series just for the sake of it, but I didn't get far.  The only thing interesting was the fact the turtles actually got older.  They were supposed to be about 18ys in that series AFAIK.

Actually I have not got a clue about this char, it's just a sprite learning purpose that I made.

I have to say the sprites are looking good except for some smal details, but like BeasTie said, there is a different thread for Concepts, if you start posting that stuff here, then some people will maybe think that the char is already part of the project, and that could lead to all kinds of problems.  :o

Speaking of your mod, are you still working on it?

He is, I sended him some background graphics and we talked about it, he wants to work on sprites and stages right now, and working on sprites always takes lot of time.

But like everyone here he has a real live too and can't work 24h on the project, because of that he can't report as much about progress as we would like to see, so guys give him the time he needs, because working on such a project is harder as it looks like.

Yeah sorry, this has been a massive delay in progress...as Lictbringer mentioned, I'm still backlogged with lots of sprite work.

I'm working on various music/audio commissions at the moment, so I've had to concentrate on those for a while.  But in this time I've also been making some original music for this mod  8) - I will try and post some stuff soon, but it might not even make the final game.

I'm also tackling various game projects at once, so i might not show updates unless it's screenshot worthy or an interesting development.  TMNT is still top priority,  I may unfortunately have to shelve or abandon other projects.

I can't access dropbox at the moment because I've been maxed out by other shared project folders.  So if anyone is willing to accept a referral for dropbox, it would really help out several projects of mine and a few other indie projects I'm involved in.

Many thanks for all the support so far. especially to all the guys who have been helping with sprites etc.  I have ripped or received heaps of great stuff , it's just a matter of processing it all.

If anyone is interested to help cut up sprite sheets and axis align sprites etc.  please don't hesitate to contact me.  ;)

project on hiatus but not dead... accidentally did a lot of updates to an older version of the mod a while back :(
I never released a demo because I didn't want unfinished stuff being distributed

A lot of excellent sprite work has continued behind the scenes by A-D-EiGHT I am working again on converting some of his custom stuff for the mod

A spent a long time trying to resize sprites for enemies to fit the mod and ended up scrapping nearly everything. the only enemies I really have that match are the custom made footclan.

I'm still undecided whether to bother continuing with this mod, so much progress was made but it's hard to pick up where I left off...

If I continue I will probably start over by recoding the turtles and ignore everything else for now. If anyone would be interested to work on this with me on official capacity let me know. You will need experience with openbor coding of course ;)

(some screens since all the old pictures are gone now)

Hi
Really cool to read that the project is not canceled
For sure we have no many really cool TMNT games on OpenBOR ...
For my part i can't help you, so many project to release and already two openBor games ...
But continue, work on your project, it seems excellent :)
And if really you prefer to stop it, share your work like a demo, to let some other users take it and continue something with it ...
Lost sprites and lots of work like it is really so bad :( You have a part of your life to work on it, the goal is that people can use your work :)

most things have already been shared among the various people working on TMNT openbor mods and TMNT mugen stuff.

The mod was not left in a good state because I was in the process of ripping out a lot of older content, remaking HUD etc. (that's why the screenshots are cropped lol)
I did a lot of experimenting with sprites, combat variations, resizing things etc. messing with stages, trying to get everything to match as much as possible and ended up sacrificing a lot of older content.

I was trying to replace a lot of the older enemies because they looked a bit small (but I might just end up using them because I kinda like them and re-scaling ruins them).

I did code a lot of the turtles but I paused to work on the additional sprites for them, finishing the footclan sprite edits and ripping other enemies for the game etc.
(so these new footclan were not finished I couldn't help myself to test them out once I had a lot of the basic animations finished.)

A major focus was to have it all animate well and have fluid combat, I started with Raphael and his anims work really well along with the custom stuff we did. The other turtles were more of a struggle to make them as good which is why we opted to spend all more time to create more sprites and animations. I coded a lot of the moves into the game but I never decided exactly how everything will combo together. The custom stuff we were making was to fill those gaps.

A-D-EiGHT was working on TMNT sprite animations on his own, the stuff he was doing was amazing, the sprites animate really well, there is a lot of new stuff I need to add, but it's a big work to intergrate it with all my current palette arrangements so I will probably start clean, which is still a big job but less headaches in the end.

I understand your point.
I'm in a very similar situation right now with my own mod.
Not dead, but big hiatus. Not easy to get back to it.
In need of motivated coder to make the creation process "possible" not taking 10 more years to add content etc.

I'm very glad your project is alive, but just like mine, I doubt any skilled person can work on it seriously.
Perhaps since your project is a very popular licence, you will have more chances than me, with my random "universe"
Your project deserve to be supported !
