Hi, its me again with a new endless project, from time to time i have to switch themes to keep motivating and improving on openbor, so i decided to add one more big project to my list.

this one is called streets of southown, and cover snk character kof sprites (openbor back at his roots)

different of my marvel projects that are related to each other, this one is more like a sandbox but with heavy use of scripts and things done right

what i already have done:

level up system with changes on stances and moves, hp mp evolutive, damage

to do:
- world map system
- try to merge some real cool stuff from d&d mod and other cool useful mechanics

i will make some projects using this sandbox like Art of fighting2 plot and a fatal fury one, i will contact mr.q to get permission to use his art of fighting as base

also i have created a development blog this time to show what i want to do and some project rules

i hope to finish the sandbox soon to make more quality kof style mods to all in a plug and play way


 
thanks! i got the blessing from the legend :), now its time to merge southtown classic locations from aof1 into the new mod

Brilliant concept! I like how every 5 levels a character will change to different stances based on the timeline of SNK games, like Robert's stances from original AoF to KOFXIII, for example. Even for world map in Southtown for AoF and FF. If Psycho Soldiers' events will connect to Ikari Warriors', is there going to be a story for them? I'm failing to understand about it.
 
my plan is to first have a mod covering (aof1, aof2, aof3, and a prequel to tell how yuri got kindaped)

finishing this mod we already will have a world map with many locations binded in southtown worldmap

then i start a second mod covering fatal fury locations and making the world map more rich with southtown content locations already marked on the map
the aof characters can be presents on fatal fury game but a little aged (different sprite look than previous game)

for ikari warriors the plot will be the rescue of someone in a war style game but with the kof mechanics outside southtown. but when they come back to southtown
their plot will merge with psychosoldier game

its like ikari warriors would face a victory road theme game at his end

then psychosoldier comes to southtown in a new mod to defeat this alien invasion

then the last mod called streets of southown will have everything the previous content got to make it easy to everyone just make their own adventure on the worldmap just plug and play while i just create characters and content already coded to people just put on their projects on streets of southown

streets of southtown will be an open map of southown full of side stories :)

Aah, another mod :)

If you need more background images, feel free to use the ones in my Crime Buster v2.5
 
eheh thanks, i will need all backgrounds i can find :P
also i want all your enemies sprites :P

this project will have more releases than my others. i have plans to release at each time i finish one step, until i get bored and back to super heroes :P

for the aof prequel history i have those in mind
young karate-man with his blond friend in the streets smart tournament some good years before aof1 story.

for aof1 plot
ryo and robert the same way mr.q  did, only updating enemies and some system

for aof2
ryo, robert, yuri and takuma in a 4 players revenge sequel style

secrets mr. karate, marco rodriguez, miss.karate, dan, kenshiro (just fun bonus not related none of those secrets in any part of the aof mod)

for aof3 i will wait because this part i will need to have a partner to edit sprites and convert to kof style

by the way someone have this mugen character? i need more frames for him but i could not find his sprites on the internet

Good. Glad to see there will be hidden characters.

About blue guy.
He looks like MIT character. very old one.
But there is a character closer to this blue one... I can't remember the name.
But AFAIK his animation/sprite number is very imited.
You still can ask MrQ himself if he remembers.

About AOF3 chars.
Editing them to KOF style could be a very long and hard work.
I highly recommand something more simple and effextive.
1- scale them to good size.
2- edit palette to something more KOF like (more contrast, less colorful)
3- small edits on few parts (face details, ...)

It should make it right.
 
yeah that´s the plan for aof3 but even to do just this i need someone to help me because my photoshop skills are not much good

also i will need find a robert or contact thedge to comission the blue costume robert to to have all his stances, but first i need release a good aof1 demo mod to get some fans and then maybe try a fund rasing to hire thedge to do some more animations to make this work more complete in aof3

kof xiii sprites will be too much off if resized?
i want to try doppo orochi as a simple big thug karate enemy in game but needs to resize

You should not use KofXIII sprites in a regular kof type project.

-outline will "disapear" on scalling.
-shadding is really different.

Unless you redraw them almost completly :(

Mhh not sure about this one looks like looks familiar, but I was not able to find without the name of it. =/

anybody have all stages from burning fight game? since mr.q chinatown was using first stage from burning fight i want to keep the same style and put all chinatown related using burning fight resources. and with this the burning fight universe will be merged with southtown as if the entire game was in southtown
