Shinobi Art Of Vengeance / Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

I gave this a quick play before,

It's a lot like the ninja game I wanted to make years ago,

It's awesome so far and I can't wait to get into it.
Those annoying eagles make a return, loved how they respawn when you get knocked back, back in the day.

Nevermind Ragebound go finish your game please good sir 🤣🤣🤣
Shinobi blood look insane even without the blood.
You were on to something with those enemy ambushes.

getting some nice ninja games is always a good thing. @danno why did you give up on your ninja game it looks good.

My games had about 5 different facelifts over the years, it's gone from Shinobi (Joe Musashi universe) to my very own I.P, I've worked so hard on it and I didn't want it to just be a fan game.

I started drawing the sprites for it a few years ago which also have had many face lifts too.

I've realised I'm going to have to do simple sprites, no bigger than 100 pixels and only dark, medium and light colour work. (3 shades of the same colour instead of 8 different shades of colour per skin tone for example)

On top of that I've had a lot of death happening in my family over the last 3 years and I ended a 20 year relationship with my partner so I've been feeling less than motivated to do anything.

Outside of the game dev talk! That last paragraph I can relate to word for word and the only difference is context.

I will say this, there is nothing wrong with feeling the way you do but do not linger in it for too long.
People who say only focus on the good, keep them away from me, we need to experience it all so those bad feelings die and not us.

The only thing you can do is work on you here on in if you aren't already. Don't look at hitting rock bottom as an excuse to lose the best parts of what makes you who you are.

Bruh, this is nothing new, you know exactly what takes, discipline.
No one can put in the effort you suppose to put in. Only you.

You can dismiss the above but do one thing for me and start lifting again with no goal in sight.
Keep well

I'm planning on getting this later today and possibly trying out the shinobi art of vengeance demo.

And Danno sorry for your losses brother.

Yes there is a demo of Shinobi art of vengeance. It was announced at Nintendo Direct partner showcase yesterday.

I gave the new Shinobi demo a playthrough

It's really good, so good in fact it made me forget my little pet peeves that bother me like the overuse of screen shake and big flashy effects. I really like the combat and platforming mechanics and it definitely feels like the Shinobi of old times but with an upgrade.

I said earlier I feel like Lizardcube is severely overrated - but looks like they brought the goods this time around. Might have to grab a copy!

I can't wait to get into it.

So I got into it finally and it's a really good game, it feels more like a metroidvania type than a Ninja Garden game, I can't think of any aspect that's "Ninja Garden" (especially gameplay) apart from the characters used to be honest.

It will do until Shinobi is released 😂

It was bothering me that I wasn't bothered by the hit flashes and screen shake :ROFLMAO: so I decided to investigate 🧐 I took some of my gameplay, slowed it down and analysed it

What I discovered is the biggest boldest hit flashes are displayed behind the characters and not in front so you still see a large percentage of the attack, not only that when the attack lands there's a slight pause and the enemy turns completely white which adds full contrast between the enemy and the flashes which allows your eyes to remained focused and to differentiate between the two and as the flashes quickly disappear the enemy fades back into colour.

The screen shake also pauses the screen as it happens and there is a slowing velocity as the shake finishes, it doesn't jump up 8 pixels and down 8 pixels 4 times
its more like 8, 6, 4 which gives a very smooth motion while its happening and a gentle stop when the animation ends and is really easy on the eye.

The art style complements all this as I don't think with the square edges of pixels it wouldn't of been as subtle, especially with the shaking of all the graphics on screen. I really have to take my hat off to the developers for this, it really shows how much thought and effort have gone into basic things like hit flashes and screen shake.

WOW! I just tested the theory and it's true 😧, I literally spent 4 minutes bouncing off every enemy all the way through the level, I didn't know I could bounce off projectiles too.

Another thing you might not know is that if you use the dodge roll and then hit jump. You will get slightly higher jump that lets you throw 3 kuni at once. You also get a new attack as you dodge roll. =D

I wanted to post some more trailers

I pre-ordered it today, I've not pre-ordered a game since Metal Gear Rising on the PS3 that's how excited I am to play it, I always wanted to make another Shinobi 3 game because in my opinion it's one of the best games ever made and after playing this demo I can honestly say it's up there with Shinobi 3.
