Sega Gen

Is anyone familliar with what tools are used to create a Sega Genesis game? I had a friend ask me today. I figured the OB engine might be a little too much for a Sega game but really don't know. I have seen over the past 20 ywears or so people make their own carts.

There's a few open development kits to create ROMs and theres a couple companies that can manufacture carts but you'll need just as much knowledge if not more in coding languages, I'd stick to openbor because you could learn the basics in a few months and you can create an entire game without script in about a year.

Thanks Danno Yeah I;m sticking with OB it's the best option in the world imo but my cousin is like "Genesis" crazy" lol. Back in the 1990's When everybody had Super Nintendos he was always Sega Sega Sega lol. I like the genesis too but he played a game that someone put on a cart and wants to make one so he can play it on his Genesis.

Better tell him to start learning C code. At least he won't have to learn Assembly. The Genesis only runs assembly language, but unless I'm mistaken there are some really nice Genesis development kits that let you code in C or even C++ and then compile to Genesis assembly for you. You can't push the console limits nearly as much, but I don't think that's going to matter for a beginner.
