After some routine analysis, I noticed an unfortunate trend over the last few months: anonymous bot searches have increased exponentially. Even as I write this, more than ten thousand bot sessions are hitting the forum’s search system.
That is obviously not something I can allow to continue. This traffic wastes a massive amount of bandwidth and has already caused slowdowns and query errors. Most forums disable guest searching for exactly this reason. I left ours enabled to keep the site as open as possible, but bad actors have made that policy untenable.
Search is now disabled for guests. Registered users are unaffected. If you wish to search without creating an account, use Google with the following format:
