Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

OK, I kind of finished the game.*

It was one of the worst and most painful beat'em up experience I had for a long time.
This game is a total garbage. I never felt so angry about the quality of such a game and the incompetence of the creators.
It may be because of a budget limit, but this is not an excuse to release and SELL a half cooked game.

I used to like Rushing Beat series for the ambiance mostly and for the artistic direction, a bit for thegameplay and fun characters. (mostly RB2 and 3 even if RB1 had some charm as a wannabe FF clone try)
But now, I don't want to ear about RB series anymore.

* to be honest after the pain in the a- of beating like 15 versions of Edgar and this freaking maid, the game just froze when the final boss had like 5% of life.
No more chance for this game. I'm done.

There are plenty of modern beat em ups games in 2D that respects the golden age of beat em up (I know many of theme were not that good but at least fun)
There is no reason to play this game anymore. The Rushing Beat series is closed with one of the worst modern thing ever made in this style.

I send a lot of "good vibes" to any people who want to enjoy this game if they like it.
Enjoy your time.

And sorry for my average english.

The game has its problems, but I wouldn't call it half cooked. Troubled and jank in a few areas, but that is pretty much always been the norm for this franchise. Even with Shura taken into account.

Were you on Steam, or PS5/Switch 2 by any chance? Sucks that happened though. I never encountered that game crash, just the stage 5 soft lock once. All you had to do for that one was quit the game, and continue from the start menu. They patched out, along with some other soft glitch I never encountered. They clearly care about what they're doing. Send them a legit issue to their twitter page or steam page, and they will happily look into it.

On that one, this series never really had any good bosses. Just okay and really annoying/cheap bosses. I've done about 4 playthroughs of this game now, and I can get through most of the bosses without either getting hit much or knowing their patterns without issue. I admit the last boss is kinda lackluster and more of a puzzle boss, but again, this series never even did the final bosses well, aside from Shura. Though I am not a fan of him either. I still find him the final boss better than any of the final bosses from the SNES Trilogy. Though at least Iceman Dieter has a cool design.

Yeah, you can do way worse than RBX. Maiden Cops, the GI Joe game. Raging Justice, Rita's Rewind, Absolum (in terms of pacing and me disliking most rouge-likes), and any of recent Yakuza/LAD outputs for the last couple of years.

RBX does have plenty of charm, but it's clearly working for you, and that's okay. I love the writing, humor, and the interactions between these characters. It's better than what we go before, where there either wasn't much (style at the time for most games in general), butchered in the localized version, or still untranslated with rom hacks, and having to look up translation guide to enjoy the story for whatever game.

The game does go a little overboard with the references to RB1 and RB2, but I love the 64th Street deep cut, and having its gameplay mechanic actually be partially vital to the combat and good. The art style is popping for the whole cast, but some backgrounds could have been better in a few spots here and there. The charm of this game is literally, this is what it would look like in the mid 2000s or an XBLA game from 2008. Not an insult, but I know there a few that look better than RBX even around that time.

Thank you. Sorry it didn't work out for you, but I will always take an honest opinion over a forced/false/following the crowd opinion. Hopefully in a few years or so, you might be able to give this game another chance. It's okay, because there are so many other brawlers coming out soon over the horizon.

I did another round of Rushing Beat X. This time on Free Mode, Hard Difficulty. I chose Kazhan. Well started as Kahlua for the first two stages, but she is way too weak in terms of power and health. She and Kazhan are both fragile speedster, but he can still take way more hits than her. Wendy can take more hits than here, but she's meant be somewhere between and Jack of All Trade/Light Glacier. Back to Kazhan, he does make this game the most fun, because of his infinite air juggles and cance-able moves that turns RBX into a DMC game. It was really fun experimenting with moves and everything. Hard Mode is much more balanced, and I rather play it than Shura Mode. Most bosses I was able to beat with no problem, but certain enemy types like the ghetto looking Weskers and robots get way over powered, or become a nightmare to fight in smaller arenas with other mooks.

I am going to try to experiment more with canceable moves with some of the other character. The game does have sauce, but I feel not enough people are going to experiment with the combat. I have no idea why they didn't bother with a training move. Every brawler has one at this point and should be mandatory. The tutorial is nice, but people turn that off after their first run.

I did another run in RBX as Wendy this time. I stuck with Normal Free Mode. Wendy has sauce too, but no infinites like nearly the entire cast. It doesn't matter much, because she can cause huge damage. She is my favorite of two female characters, but it's not surprising as she is my favorite in Rushing Beat Ran. Wendy also has a special grab where you can pick up a downed enemy and proceed to beat them further however you like, but it doesn't work on certain elite mooks, and bosses. Or is not worth, because of their wake up attacks.

My Kaluha playthrough on Normal Free Mode is done. She is fun character, but her play style really reveals the problems with the game. Certain later enemies are over powered as fuck, and have a lot of health. Her being the fragile speedster and weakest the characters doesn't help. Kazan is a fragile speedster, but still does more damage than her. I did try to do a full playthrough of Bild, but his major weakness is that his super moves requires grabbing enemies, and this becomes a big issue with bosses like Julia or the Yellow Robot. Where you have to be on the same plane/line as them, but most of the time you'll either get unfairly grabbed, or Julia will do that 5 hit combo on you.

There is not much left for me to say at this point. I enjoyed the game, but I do hope City Connection patches more and irons out the cheap and overpowered enemies on later levels.

I managed to beat Shura difficulty with Lord J this time. I was able to get through most of the game okay, because of his high damage output. I actually managed to beat my old score which has Kaluha now in second place. 184K+ points. I do not recommend playing on this mode though. I spent about 16 hours total on this game, and about done for now.

I think Rushing Beat X possibly has me in hostage mode. I keep finding reasons to go back and play thinking I am done. The combat keeps drawing me back, despite its flaws. Partially (the first 5-8 minutes) looking at 1CC run only inspired me to do better and try what the other person did. I managed to do a near 1CC Run with Kahlua. Originally, I thought she was the worse character to play as, but turns out, Kahlua is one of better combo focused characters to play and beat the game. There is so much pause combo cancelling, and dash cancelling you can do, but the game barely ever tells you.

I did the entire run on Hard, and only died once at the final boss. He ain't even hard, it just the boss before him, Juliana, can be a biatch to fight. I managed to beat my old high score again, and totaled to 207,881. I am putting this down, as I've really got to get back to other games now. I've put 22 hours into this game now.

Took me two tries, but I cleared Boss Rush Mode with Kahlua in Rushing Beat X. Clear it is 24 minutes and 19 seconds. I don't think I am going to get a faster time than this with the other characters. What they do throw at you is some bullshit at the end, but if you know how space the bosses out properly and juggle them, it's not too bad. They at least give you healing items to endure. This game clearly needs a survival mode and versus mode for the hell of it, because I am not gonna do that mode again for long time, aside from maybe Kazan and Wendy.

I unlocked the loaded trophy for RBX. I got the 10,000 fully collected. Next is the character epilogues. I should have only two character left to unlock that trophy. I will just use level select and make it quick.

Okay, I completed All Characters Epilouge Endings in Rushing Beat X. The complete the game as Juliet Trophy can only be done in free mode, but I will save her for another time.

I just got the Platinum Trophy in Rushing Beat X tonight! I think I am completely done with the game now and will be taking a long break from it. It was a blast.
