Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.

Mersox, are you going to make cutscenes with images like you did for the first Game? Do you plan to use a Command Center level for this Game aswell?

This time I'm using videos as cutscenes. So far I don't plan on having the Power Chamber mostly because I haven't come across usable empty screenshots of it.

and please make each ranger play differently !

looking forward to this
I'll try. So far every char will have a special move that doesn't consume mp.

Loved the first Beats of Power can't wait for part two. Zeo didn't see much love in the video game department, one horrible PC game and strangely one kart racer on the snes, will be nice to see something do it justice.

Mersox any plans of some rangers from other seasons as guest characters like The Red Space ranger perhaps? Also do you plan on having both Trey and Jason playable?

the way the ranger sprites look maybe BWWDs program he uses for Heman mod would be good to create additional frames and moves ?

I thought about doing that for the unmorphed characters but it seems I won't need to (which is a good thing as I'm not a fan of stickman type animations)

Yeah, Zeo didn't get its due in the videogame department. There was also a pinball game for the PS1. What the heck.
Sorry to dissapoint but I won't be including Rangers from other seasons, or Trey.

After PewDiePie introduced your game to many folks you are on the next process of making Zeo season? Will you make more sequels about the new seasons? I hope it reaches SPD, SPD is my favorite season...

When I saw you were doing Zeo next I nearly hit the ceiling, as I'd always wished for an arcade style beat'em up in the veign of the Genesis MMPR movie game. I assumed you'd be using the Tommy, Adam, Rocky, and Jason sprites from the Snes game, with edited Snes/Genesis sprites for Kat, Tanya, and the Rangers, so I was blown away seeing a live action Tommy in your teaser.

Sadly those PC Ranger sprites really are terrible, but I have a suggestion for you on that front. Enlist fans who have Zeo costumes to take the photos needed to make new sprites. Then the teens, Rangers, and monsters will all have a cohesive look.  In fact I think someone even has a Cog costume. If you need help rounding these people up let me know.

mersox,

I joined the forum just to say that I'm a huge fan of your first Beats of Power game. I'm a big MMPR and Zeo fan. I kept watching through Turbo and had enough when Space came out. I actually went back and watched Space recently on Netflix and I plan to keep going through all the other seasons I didn't watch.

Anyways...I'm VERY excited to see this project announcement. The Gold Ranger was always my favorite ranger so it'll be awesome to play through as him when you finish the game.

Also...though you might find this cool...I have a stand up arcade machine that's running a PC with MAME and other emulators. I downloaded your game to my arcade PC, mapped out the buttons to my arcade controls, and played through and beat the game with those controls. It was awesome to say the least. My machine is a two player setup so I made the wifey jump on as the Pink Ranger the day I got it working for a little two player action. What a blast. We actually were the Green and Pink Rangers for Halloween a couple of years ago. She's not a Power Rangers fan at all but she's sweet enough to indulge me in my nerdy activities every now and then. LOL. I actually found out about your game by doing an image search for Power Rangers Arcades. I figured someone out there had themed a custom arcade after Power Rangers but instead of finding that, I found your game. Anyways...keep up the great work!

PewDieDie's video more than doubled the amount of download of Beats of Power and I am very grateful for that. However I started working on the sequel a couple of weeks before his video was published.

I don't think I will make a third game, I'm afraid.

Thank you. I am aware that some people don't like the cgi characters. However, I already ripped them and included them in the game, so I will leave them in the first demo. I will listen to opinions after that, not only here but at Gamejolt and Facebook as well. I believe they work well during gameplay (of this game at least), and there's a chance that more people might start feeling the same way after trying out the demo. We'll see.

Alright first of all I think I'm speaking for everyone in the forum when I say please share pictures of your arcade machine! That sounds wicked awesome and something that I would definitely love to see.
My story with the show is similar to yours but I quit earlier, I think by the third Turbo episode I felt I had enough. A shame how the show devolved so abruptly that season.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience and for following the development of the game. I am very glad you enjoyed the first Beats of Power and I hope the Gold Ranger in the sequel won't disappoint you.

I look forward to the demo. My main problem with the cg sprites was how stiff Red Zeo looked in your teaser, but after watching some gameplay videos of Zeo vs the Machine Empire they could possibly work if assembled well. They seem stiffer with their weapons than they do without, so I'd personally minimize weapon usage to what it was in the Genesis movie game.

And speaking of the Genesis movie game, I'd like to see the combat resemble that more closely than the prior beats of power. I consider it the gold standard when it comes to these beat em' ups because there's a nice variety of attacks to keep it from getting too repetitive, and I missed having a bunch of those options in the first beats of power.  I'm fine with the unmorphed Rangers having more limited fighting options, but I really missed the morphed Rangers having dash attacks, the longer 5 hit combo, the special kick attack which takes out enemies all around you, and the jumping backflip kick which you repurposed to the standard combo. I also missed the charge attack, and preferred it to the meter. Just some food for thought. I know you're limited to what you can do with the sprites you have available, but I'd keep attack variety in mind, and I think the Genesis movie game really is a great example of that with having 8 different attacks you can use at any given time.

Hey guys, I don't know if it's Ok to post it here, but I thought it was relevant to PowerRangers fans so anyway...

Have you seen this:

POWER\RANGERS

quoting from comicbook.com
Director Joseph Kahn (Torque, Detention) has created a 14-minute unofficial Power Rangers film unlike anything you’re likely to expect.

The “deboot” film, titled Power/Rangers stars Battlestar Galactica’s Katie Sackoff as Kimberly, the Pink Power Ranger.

The film also stars James Van Der Beek, who co-wrote the screenplay, as Rocky, the traitorous ex-Red Power Ranger, now in the employ of the Machine Empire.

The fan film extrapolates the dark and gritty style of modern film versions of what were previously children’s entertainment properties (i.e. Transformers, Man of Steel) to the edge of absurdity."

I actually enjoyed it very much, but unfortunately, there's talk of Saban taking action to remove it from the internet, so you have to watch now, before it's gone:

You could make your next game based off of that it wouldnt be to hard to edit the snes sprites so they look similar to that you could do it based off of the ranger war thing where trini died

It's a great project. I wish you can utilize the sprites using the vlc for the morphed rangers too like tommy unmorphed.

I'm afraid I haven't made much progress. Life has been a bit hectic lately (I'm even in the process of moving to a new city) and also whenever I get the chance to work with OpenBOR I end up doing stuff for the TMNT mod instead.

But fear not, the project is not cancelled or anything. i WILL finish this one, just like I did with the first game.

Thanks for asking.

Oh ok well good to hear its at least still being made , I have been playing the original PR BOP a lot lately on my Android Phone since I was able to finally Map the buttons to a Moga and Xbox 360 Controller  ;D ... Still hands down one of the greatest games ive ever played!
