OpenBOR is really awesome

So, I know I had started to do videos on how to use this tool as a means to teach youth game development, I haven't uploaded them yet since a class is in session. But over the summer, I'll be uploading a lot of videos on just basic things that I've learned from this site on how to do.

I just want to say that OpenBOR is truly awesome. As someone who has been an software engineer going on 19 years, I can honestly say that OpenBOR REALLY gives the best of both worlds in hand holding and intricacy. Like there's ways to use simple code to do more simple things, and ways to write more advanced functionality. I think over our current DBH class session, we've learned SO much on how to do things to 1) speed up a lot of what we didn't know last year 2) WebM works tremendously! 3) so many other things.

When we release our game for this class, you'll definitely see the growth and what our class has been able to learn just by using this site as a resource. Truly grateful for this site. Truly.

Nowhere but up.

Wow..... this is so amazing! I am so glad that this engine is useful for you and your students. Looking forward to what you guys have got.

I've always dreamed to create my own games since I was young and I was never be able to do it.
Openbor is like my dreams come true although I haven't started any game yet,
but with all the great help from awesome folks on this forum, I know I can do it.
I am gathering the tutorials together right now, and I will start it soon.
I greatly appreciate all the developers for all their hard work to develop this awesome OpenBor engine
and I also greatly appreciate all the supporters who have been helping me.
Keep up with the good work and God bless you all!
and thank you Digital Brilliance Hour for tutorial videos. You are great!

Hi. Are you the the guy in the tutorials with the silky smooth voice narrating everything?

If that's you, thanks for being such a good teacher. You say everything so clearly, concisely. You don't stutter or do annoying things such as "ummm, errm, errr, uhh, ya know" Not hating on anyone, but having a professional tone really makes a difference in quality tenfold.

I'm really enjoying your tutorials. Currently going over your openborstats tutorial.

Actually, I have to add something and I hope it doesn't come across as unfair.

In your tutorials, I think you should replace openborstats with CMT (chrono modders tools).
Or maybe not, but at least consider that the tool is very buggy. I've been trying to use it all week and it's caused me no end of grief. Kept wondering what I was doing wrong. Turns out I wasn't and it was the openborstats program messing things up for me.
Shame, because it seems very user friendly.

I have to disagree with you on this. That tool has some bugs, but is not that buggy as you say.
For some time, it was even more stable than CMT itself - which now is more stable.

I can remember very few issues of it:
- lack of loop (value) (start frame) (stopframe) - once you go to visual mode and return, it will revert it to 0 and remove the start and end stop frames
- the documentation on it is outdated (but sometimes there was some info that wasn't even on the manual)
- some oficial animations, like grabforward, are listed as invalid name

Also, it will try to organize your animations alphabetically, and some people doesn't like it. But its not a bug at all.

CMT is more powerful, no shadow of doubt. Its just openbor stats can be more intuitive in some aspects and people that grewn up using it, like me, starts it automatically sometimes.

Well, I've been using openborstatv067. Far as I can tell, that's the most up to date.

For the quick (will give details in a sec) I just used CMT and immediately was able to see the level designs I was trying to make.

For openborstats, it's kinda hard to explain, but I spent all week wondering why the exe wouldn't load up my level design.
I was removing coding, adding coding, adjusting coding.... all sorts. Wondering what on earth I was doing wrong. Of course, this is something all coders come across.

But I just used CMT and it seems the way I intended to begin with works fine.

Also, there is an editor feature of making Ptrans, making things invisible, stuff like that. None of it was working or at least not how the tutorial was showing it.
Then there is the feature of looking at the x and y co-ordinates (like say if you're trying to place a panel, or a moment to wait or a neon sign) and the bar to view the x co-ordinates is immovable.
I feel like I wasted a week messing around. Hopefully, some good will come of it but now that I knew I wasn't coding things incorrect, I wish I saw the comments about openborstats. Is there an update to version 067?

I've tried to use openborstats program before and I loved the drag and drop feature in program, but it was buggy and alot of crashes enough for me to break my keyboard and mouse and pulled my hair so hard lol.... For god sakes I stopped using it.
CMT has been updated alot lately.
I agree with you that new tutorial videos should be using CMT instead.
