I put the Openbor 1.0 Blank Template in my paks file, but it won't open. Is it because I am using an Android tablet. What devices to I need to start making games?

My guess is that the 2D template is unpaked so people can learn from it by looking at the files. Check if is a .pak file or not.
You need a text editor and an image editor. I only use Openbor on windows so I don’t know if you can work with those tools in other platforms. Others can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think only windows and Mac.

If you can only use it for windows and Mac how can I set it up? I have a old Mac book pro that could probably work. If you can show me how please do. I'm tired of sitting around having all of this wealth of free awesome resources to make my ideas come to life available to me and not being able to use not one single one of these resources because non of my stupid computers will cooperate. You know how frustrating that is?

I do all my openbor work on linux using native tools like gimp, sublime text and sound converter.

I am looking at the about my computer in settings. It is a macOS MacBook Pro High Sierra Version 10.13.6 Retina
15-inch, Mid 2015).
Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 17
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I don’t know if you need all of these details but I listed them just in case because when your dealing
with computers if one tiny little detail is off it can ruin anything you are trying to do.

In windows you just setup like this:
1. Create a folder for the Template and put the data folder on it.
2. Create a ‘Paks’ folder, create an empty text file and rename it .pak, place that “fake oak file” inside the Paks folder. (Not on my laptop now, but I think the name of the file must be bor.pak)
3. Download Openbor.exe and put it in the Template folder.
4. So you’ll have these 3 files visible in the Template folder: data folder, Paks folder (with bor.pak inside), Openbor.exe. Once you execute Openbor, it will create extra folders and will load the data folder as a game.
I have no idea about Linux or Mac.
Edit: I’m not sure, but maybe natively Openbor is windows only. All other ports like wiiu, psp etc are ports made by people outside the dev team, and only to play the games, not to edit/create them.

@Retroplex86 if your macbook is up and running im sure you can make openbor games on there too let me see if i can make a macos virtual machine and see if it compiles ok.

watched it thank you. But I still only understand 20 percent of what
I watched and still am mostly clueless. I only understand 20 percent of what I watched. The rest I didn’t know what he was talking about. Do I have to go somewhere to pay for a computer class and learn more things just so I can keep up with what he is saying? Also he didn’t show us at all how to install any kind of linux software.
I’m watching it right now.
Again try using your mac just install sublim text and gimp

What is sublim text? I have heard of gimp when I was taking graphic design clases in college. Gimp is a paint program
