I have compiled a group of ppl to make a game, which we intend to press, and we are looking for someone who is good with BoR/OpenBoR. It is for the Dreamcast, and we currently have art, music, voice, and story taken care of. If you can help sweet, otherwise I guess I gotta learn :P

because we are still building our team, just looking for someone who knows how to put together everything.

this all seems like trolling to me.  Im not meaning to be rude but you say you have professional vas and can press disks which means you are putting money into this which means your doing a project with money correct?  Then you come here and like beastie said everyone is doing their own mods and are very busy ask people for help and coding giving no info on your game or anything this to me isnt good.  You should post screen shots info that this game is even being made and then ask for help as not to waste anyones time.  This is also the second topic you have made about this game and have given no info on it.  Also if your paying VAs and someone to press disks for your game have you asked the devs of openbor if its even okay to sell your games?

1) I said I am FRIENDS with VAs, dont HAVE to pay anyone.

2) Of course I would want them pressed, why make a game if you would want something to hold?

3) I would ask... BUT open source is just that OPEN... as in... free to use as you please.

4) BECAUSE I am going through the trouble of making such a big team, why the hell would I want to put all the info of said project in the open? I have no problem talking about it, but we havent officially announced our licensed project yet.

5) My other post was a resource question, this is a actual call for work.

All original stuff. Also, I'm The Sega Stoner for a reason ;) I am TheSegaStoner on youtube, and loves me some Dreamcast!

This is all well and good, but if you want someone to take an interest then they kinda need to know something about the project. ;)

Like I might even be interested, but I don't even know what type of game this is or what is going to be involved to make it.  It might be something I'm not capable of even doing.  Also some kind of idea of what the graphics style will be is something else that could peak interest.  You said all the resources are ready, so can you post a sprite? a character bio, concept art, anything.  And seriously I'm not trying to be rude at all man, but some kind of information is needed to make a decision to get involved.

There is no need to post 2 topics about this.. And Im sorry man I never heard of you lol.. But its the truth you cant get people to help you with no info.  Lets say I wanted to code your game and you showed me what it was and I lost intrest in it.. Everyone has things they have interest in.. Like I hate sports games so if you told me it was that i would say no etc..

I see, wording makes all the difference :P

I suppose style wise it would be kinda like Crisis Evil, but cell shaded. 2 playable characters. A trilogy of games. No fmv stuff, but comic cut scenes.

As for not knowing me, its all good, just saying why I want on DC

So it would be a survival horror shooter type game cell shaded sounds  a bit intresting.  Have any screen shots?  will there be both male a female playable characters?

I don't want to discourage original projects at all, but it's only fair to show us something, if you have art please show some art :)

Also you said you have art, but do you have sprites of chars and enemies for this game ready?

If everything is actually 100% original then I'd be happy to at least help you get started on this, getting some basic stuff in game.

The problem is this kind of thing takes a long time to put together, we're talking months to years to make it happen.  Processing sprites, setting up palettes etc. all this is very time consuming, you must be willing to share the workload that's involved.

Just hypothetically if I was coding for this than that's all I want to focus on, nothing else.  It will be up to the rest of the team to assets ready so the coder is only worrying about coding.

Question, what is a typical amount of animations for a playable character? Also, whats a typical amount for enemies? We are considering "digitized" sprites, and would need to know how many pix to take. Thanks :)

It depends on how advanced your gameplay would be. If you only want simple beat'm ups whose characters can only punch and jump, you probably only need a few. But if you're aiming for advanced beat'm up, you gonna need many animations

Anyways, the basic animations you must have for both playables and enemies are:

IDLE
WALK
PAIN
FALL
RISE

I believe you understand what IDLE and WALK for ;)
PAIN is played when character is hit with non-knockdown attack. When it ends, character goes to IDLE
FALL is played when character is hit with knockdown attack (you can see him/her flying). When it ends, character goes to RISE before IDLE

I'd say you should decide the gameplay you are going to have first before making animations to avoid time wasting. Oh yeah, if you're aiming for DC bear in mind that is has only 16 MB memory, you might want simpler gameplay with less sprites to use

Thanks for all the advice!!! LOVED that youtube video, very similar to what we have in mind, except we wouldnt need as hardcore fighting mechanics... or super powered pussies XD

As for idling and walking... I THINK I understand those ;)

Well lol i seen one of your videos they are funny haha.. I would suggest there is a guy here doing a sega genesis styled smash brothers you might want to try to play that game as well as eternal champions they are both great sega themed games.. If you are planning to do motion capturing like mk style it will be a shit ton of work there is a topic here called my next project and it is explained how you need to do it.. What I would suggest is going sprited route and edting sprites.  If you want something completely original with no edited work I would suggest going 2d/3d route you can use some pretty cool programs to make 3d styled characters pretty easily.  However sense you love sega sooo much.

why not just use sheets from your fav games and edit them

hmmm... I'll keep this in mind. How many levels, typically, can the Dreamcast version hold?
also, do you have to make the levels in order, or can you do them on at a time and arrange them after?
