There's no guide because every module is different, If the latest version of OpenBor.exe doesn't play an older game it's because there are compatibility issues.
Generally most games should be played on the version they come with or created on, some members here are updating older games to work with recent versions of the engine, maybe you could try giving it a go yourself.

Right,when i was looking at my openbor version it says that its 4402 which is way outdated compared to recent builds thats why i was wondering about the more recent builds now i figured out on how to get the files to show up on my mini pc by using kodi but idk if im doing it correct or if theres a way i can see if it has the right upgraded build or not
I'll assume that's a linux based operating system with a pre installed interface, I'm also assuming you didn't set anything up, It just came ready to go and you're manually editing and changing files, If that's the case the openbor version that's been installed on the interface is the only one that would work with that version.
For any other version to work you'll have to change the ini. file in your interface and point everything in the right direction in the ini file. I don't know where that ini file is on your set up you'll have to find and edit that yourself.
