How to get started with creating openbor mods

hey dudes this is jerkback. i a modder from id software mods but i also want to start modding here but i dont know how or whats the right things i need. so can you guys please provide this information to me.

how do  adjust a background size so if i want it to be small or big for players to fight in. 
How do i know whats the right action in a enemies or players textfile.
am i suppose to use gif or png. how do i make a weapon be able to be pickup and also can anyone give me an example mod so i could get started with.
 
Well, you should get an example mod to start with. It really helps learning from a mod than starting from scratch.

Hmmm.... I think you are referring to resolution. Read openbor manual and read section of video.txt

How do i know whats the right action in a enemies or players textfile.

That's why you should get a mod to learn from. When reading enemy or player's text file, also view the images defined in an animation. That's how I learn what each animation does.
Manual explains details of each animation if you want to know more.

am i suppose to use gif or png

It's best to use png.
gifs are only for animated gifs used in cutscenes.
