Canceled Dynamic Absolve

Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.
I'm just here to say that Dynamic Edge is cancelled as i felt bad about how it was turning out.
I still have an interest in BOR modding, though. I am planning on making a spiritual successor using what i learned from Dynamic Edge, although I have numerous ideas i might want to experiment with. Right now i only have 1 playable character (Yuki from Neo Geo Battle Colosseum) and 1 stage (the Virtua Fighter stage in the first video) done; the enemies are from a blank pak that happened to have Crime Buster enemies.

Here's a few concept videos, i guess:



A few ideas that were floating in my head were:
  • A "fatality" system
  • Either a cast of KOF Mugen edits or a cast of crossover characters
  • A "Target Destroyed" popup (ripped from Cyberbots) showing up when you defeat a boss
  • Levels lifted and slightly modified from AOF BOR Remix, Final Fight Alpha, and Rage of the Wolves
  • A MIDI soundtrack (well, MIDI converted to OGG) using a soundfont ripped from another video game.
 
I feel like a balance between edited and crossover characters would work but I’d lean on edits. Fatality system can be done easily using DEATH and then spawning “none”-type entities for severed body parts.

KOF Mugen edits sounds good but I hope you have permission from the author.

You can either have that spawned on boss' DEATH animation or as dropped item.
 
I made a title screen and a character select mockup (the 8 characters concept still might be too much). So far I thought of converting Reiji Oyama, Ingrid, and the Lee brothers as depicted in Rage of the Dragons but I haven't gotten to making anybody except for Yuki yet and I feel like former two characters would make the game too similar to the original DE.

I feel like the graphical clashing (particularly the stages i took from an SOR fangame and Delga/Othello) and broken gameplay was what made me give up on DE.

I thought of possibly editing the stages from Double Dragon Zero and Final Fight DC instead, as well as an abandoned WIP from Nick Pizanias (which is literally named "Unnamed Project") for the first stage. The stages from those 3 mods are better suited for a 4:3 resolution anyways.
