Canceled Dungeons & Dragons UPDATE

Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.
if you want me to make her dont you think she would be a better base for her

It's not 1000 sprites, she has 1100 in MUGEN but 3/4 of them are visual FX, so I removed those.  What's left is just her sprites, you can ignore the numbering.  Also, we wouldn't use all of those in a BOR game - we'd need walk, run, get hit, fall, get up, attack with sword, cast spell.  Since Lucia was a warrior/mage, she had a lot of combos etc.  If Raven is a necromancer, then we'd need more basic attacks and then use her casting anim for all the spells.

well lucia has weird long sleeves if you want me to make that necromancer woman you posted i would probably use the sprites i posted above if thats okay?

Yeah it's a tough call -- the only thing is that Lucia might have smoother animations which will fit with the rest of the roster better?

Well, if you're keeping the names, I'd have done the other way around then: use Lucia as main elf, and have Tel'Erond as secondary, with different abilities, since he was a mysterious character in the original game. But that's just me. ;)

I guess Lucia sprites are good for other classes, but it wouldn't be Lucia anymore though - she's instantly recognizable as the Elf, and "elf" in basic D&D meant fighter/wizard multiclass.

That said, you can make it work. :)

I like the idea of a "darker" hero (as unlockable character), but it feels weird seeing Lucia sprites fill that role when she was the sweetest cutie pie of the bunch, so if that class is necessary, I'd choose another base (though esn23's edit proves she can be a hell of a necromancer!).

Bard is a support class that could bring a lot of fun to a 4 player game (not so much when you play alone), with "buff" spells and songs that affect the whole group, and still feel generally different than the other spellcasters. Even her fighting style matches a bard, with elegant moves. I'm not bothered by the lack of "instruments" in her sprites, you can add those in the animation, just like bows magically appear in the character's hands in game ;)

Like BeasTie said, her original sprites work best for a druid. You'd have to add a lot of summoning spells, weather magic, and specially, the ability to shapeshift into an animal, turning her into a dual class: spellcaster when elf, melee when animal. Different animals, different abilities: wolf is fast, bear is tough, eagle flies, spider is poisonous, etc.

Anyway, don't feel like you HAVE to bring Lucia into the game, if she wasn't on your plans. Even if you add her exactly like the original Elf (maybe as a bonus unlockable hero), that would already be a nice gift for us. ^_^

erf, your take on the Druid is pretty spot on, and how a bard would work in 4-player.  Perhaps in a future update we could get all that in;)

Technically, this isn't a sequel to the Capcom games because those were set in Karameikos, and this is set in Greyhawk.

We did keep the names Greldon, Dimsdale, D'Raven and so forth, not because they are supposed to be the same folks from ToD/SoM but just because it has a nice familiarity.

That makes much more sense. Thanks!

LUCIA UPDATE

esn, before you do any more spriting I should probably caution you that the playable characters require a lot more sprites than normal.  For example, not only do they need walking animations, but also walking without weapons (for when they're in the cities), animations for throwing items (like oil, hammers, daggers), animation for shooting the crossbow, animations for riding and attack while on animals (horse, dragon, giant scorpion etc).
The D&D Capcom characters work best because they have most of these sprites already.
Because I'm a masochist, I went ahead and made a test Lucia by importing her from MUGEN into OpenBOR.  Each sprite required different offsets.  I gave her the Leaf Storm spell (which also needed different offsets for each sprite!).  Right now she just has her melee attacks, the ability to use items, and that leafstorm.  She could be turned into a bard or druid from here (or a combo of both).
However, I did promise Bloodbane I wouldn't add any more playable characters for now:)  So maybe we'll put her as an opponent in the Hippodrome arena, or as an NPC helper for one of the elf quests - or both! There's a female elf that was planned for the LJN D&D toyline named Silverain, that never went into production - only appeared as a puffy sticker.  She'd be a great NPC.

Or maybe save Lucia for playable DLC down the road....

Here's a video showing the progress on her so far:
LUCIA TEST VIDEO: Lucia Test

Hmm looks good are those all her required sprites?  I could make her into a necromancer but the thing is I would need all required sprites for it  it seems she is using a lot of nature magic in this video.. If you make a sprite sheet  of her with non index colors i can edit it :)

Yes, those are all of her required sprites - I also put her casting animations in.  That spell where she's summoning the leaf whirlwind isn't part of her sprites -- the leaves are a separate entity. (esn, check your PM I sent you her files)
The nice thing about spellcasting characters is that you can use the same basic casting animation (they raise their arms up) for all their spells.  Then you create separate animations for the spell FX.  So instead of leaves, she could be summoning skeletons and doing necromancy spells.  If you look at that sample I posted, with her as a Druid or Necromancer or Bard, you'll see what I mean.

They're the right size actually - they are from Knights of Valour.  The character sprites are the same size as the Capcom ones.  Lucia is just especially tiny, so everything looks big compared to her.

We did use the horse from Knights of the Round for the dwarf though, so it looks like he's riding a pony :)

I think it's the Birdmen Knights that is throwing you off.  We used drawmethod on them to enlarge them, so they have that 'feel', plus they're much bigger than Lucia.
But trust me, she's scaled that way by Capcom because she's an elf, and they're supposed to be shorter and slighter than humans.  But it always feels strange to me too.

BARD SPELL CASTING ANIMATION

I made the animation for the bard version of Lucia casting spells with her harp (thanks to Pierwolf for the harp sprite).  The spells themselves haven't been added, but with this animation all bard spells would be cast.
