For enemies, it highly depends on story. Why don't you define a story first then you can pick which enemies that would fit the mod and story :) ?

The story will try to recreate the dragon ball z sagas, from saiyains, but i feel that what im trying to implement will make it more like a fighting game, than a beat them up, because in the series, battles are between few characters at time...

Well, you really need to start new story then so it will become  beat'm up instead of 1vs1 game

Speaking of story, what about this: 7 dragon balls are to be found again and Goku and his friends are looking for them (pick a good reason). Let's say they are in different planet with aliens or monsters. This allows you to use monster sprites for the enemies

Good luck with your Mod! I agree that you need to pick a story, I would recommend making a new alternate universe story line.
I was trying to do DBZ as my first mod, following the story of the show, but it proved to be too difficult to get random enemies.
I used Siabamen, which had to be enlarged so the characters could even hit them, and then I took the guy in the robot suit from the GBA dragonball game. Not really enough random enemies for a beat em up.

I cannot make so much, becase some sprites are incomplete, the only i get is the ones i show in picture, ill try to find more, is really difficult a dragon ball z mod for openbor, hope will find some kind of sprites like dragon ball online to get random enemies, if not will try to mind something different... Thanks for your advices..

Getting DBZ sprites from 16 bits era is not that hard.
Google is your friend.

About robot enemies, you can get them from non-DBZ games.
If they match in sprite size and style.

Also, my suggestion would be to use DBZ existing characters as bosses.
And using smaller, weaker characters as enemies ingame.
Even if it's not exactly like the game.

Ex:
Nappa level.
Saibai man = enemies
Nappa = Boss

Perfect Cell level
Mini cells = enemies
Perfect Cell = Boss

Cooler boss with his commando

Freezer with his army

Big gate star with his Metal Cooler

Dr Gero with random cyborgs

...

You have some good ideas, want to help me with developting all those sprites and work together??

Tons of sprites available already, should be plenty to get started.

Thanks for links, but i dont know well how to configure those sprites for making the animations, want to work with me doing that??? i can send you the mod base..

Sorry I don't have time to help and I'm not very interested in dragonball z anyway.  You will need to learn about working with sprites if you're going to work on mods.

For my part i think Arcade sprites are the best one :)
But there are not many sprites .... you will must do them yourself, maybe modify the Snes one, to have all with same style.
Genesis are not really beautiful, you must modify them, and change colors ....
Many work to do for this mod for sure ...

Ok arcade styles are good, but very limited.

I would suggest to keep using 16 bits style characters (snes, megadrive/genesis...)
It covers most of the story characters and there is plenty of resources about them.
Every single character of the anime have been sprited, even non fighting ones...
This is the best choice IMO.

Also they are easier to edit.

Francot,
Just start to edit a regular mod.
Change only one character, your player.
Transphorm it in a regular Goku character until there is no more graphics or sound from the initial character (Maxima??)
If you're not satisfied edit again, test, edit again, test...
When it's OK try working on enemies, stages and other players...

I'm sure there is potential in a DBZ game like that.

Good luck ;)

This is what im doing, but very slow, i test a character per day, becuase configure anims is tedious for me, im learning basics and mod will not be improved until someone of you review it and ask me for bugfixes.... ill release a base with the characters i made and a simple level...

If it helps, there are DBZ RPG's on the NES and SNES. Look for screen shots, I'm not suggesting playing through one, but it might help give you an idea of what could be used for fodder enemies. Some have fan translations if you do want to play through them real quick, and see what comes up for battle. There's some GBA action RPG's too, which were localized.
