I really don't like the art style. I was kinda hoping that the 'Toads would look like how Rash did in Killer Instinct. In my opinion, he looked great in Killer Instinct and I really would've liked a Battletoads game with that art style.
Having said that, at first, I didn't like the art style of Streets of Rage 4 either. But that quickly grew on me and now I really love that game. So, I will give this game a shot and see if it will grow on me. At least the gameplay and level design look like fun to me. And playing as The Dark Queen is a nice idea.
You have no idea....
back in the day the Xbox forums, my friend 0llllollll0 posted a crud-ton of things Rare ware could have done with KI & battletoads withe the 360
basically you'd have a game with poly models, that have a better quality version of the pre-rendered models they already had (in killer instincts case), built with the same play -mechanics of the OG games with new moves & idle animations & AI (things that Rareware where experts since Perfect Dark)
the animation frames would respect the 2D versions to keep the exact same game-play whenever possible...
Either way the game would have the main, that would open re-makes of the previous 3 games, & even a Kinect fps mode for S#$ts & giggles.
to get an idea of how the levels would look like watch this splatter house take on the side-scrollig stuff...

so anyway, things turned out weird for those IPs -
i feel like Rareware back in the day liked to push the limits of systems in the graphics department for most of their IP's,
so if this re-make turns out popular at least there is a chance to see a game that has better visuals later on if the people working on Rareware IPs ever get back to that old way of doing things....
but these are weird times, companies like Konami that also had lots of system limitation-pushing games are also leaving those roots
