And if they can do I have to use some elaborate jazzed out script of some sort?!

I see your script.txt too, and its like my script.txt. Only have the line:
alwaysupdate 1.

Well... i check everything but i dont know what fail.

Its vital the main script.c has the name "script"?
Is the only difference founded.
I try changing my levels.txt for the avengers levels.txt and import some stages and work fine in the avengers demo.
The problem is my mod.
Then:
1. The levels.txt is working.
2. The script.txt with line alwaysupdate 1 it's ok.
3. The loading.c is courtesy of your help and tested.
Something is wrong, but what...

maybe its a conflict with your scripts. This occurs sometimes.
For example, I simple can't use uTunnels afterimage code on my mode, it doesn't works.
