Anyone here who lives in the states? It's March madness Baby! For those who are, all I need to say is that I was born and raised in Kentucky. :D

SEC Champs, #1 overall NCAA seed - Just the morning ride to work for Kentucky. But going 34-0? That's unprecedented for any team in this day and age.

Can we add a perfect 40-0 season to our already ridiculous century long pedigree? Only time will tell, but it's going to be a fun ride. I can see Wisconsin giving us a tough game, but they'll have to shoot lights out from the perimeter, and our boys can guard outside just as well as the paint. Obviously Puke is pretty good too, but I think they are WAY overrated this year. How they got a #1 seed is beyond me.

I'm curious what your bracketology calls are.

Should be another exciting tournament. With the roster the wildcats have undefeated is possible. I'm a bit sad though a friend of mine plays at Xavier they just lost to Villanova in the Big East title game hoping they get a good seed this year

I haven't followed Xavier this year. If they got to the dance, that's nothing to be upset about. As for the Cats, if it comes down to raw talent, we're truly unbeatable. We've got the #1 in the nation starting and the #2 on our bench!  :o

But that said, these kids are human, not robots. In a one and done tourney all it takes is one off night or the other team playing out of their minds, and it's all over. That's what makes it so exiting though.

Yea very true proud of them for making it that far in the Big East they are going to the big dance too. Coach Cal always puts together talented teams but this year is one of the best. We are due some upsets this time of the year because with one and done you just gotta be better for one night should be fun.

I loosely follow college ball during the regular season but kentucky is having a ridiculous season this year it definitely be interesting to see how it all plays out. It sucks that one loss now will mean the end to a perfect season

Arizona scares me a little, if nothing else because they've been a spoiler team for us a couple of times before and they were statistically outmatched in every one.

They may not have the depth or talent Kentucky has, but that's like saying Russia doesn't have as many nukes as the US. If both teams play 100% we win, but if Kentucky doesn't bring the A game, it'll be GGPO.

That's assuming we ever play each other. Barring any crazy upsets we should steamroll our bracket, but Arizona has their hands full. Their bracket is brutal this year. Good chance someone else will knock them off first.

Great tournament thus far!

I can't help give a Cats recap.

  • Round 64 - Hamption (76-56): This wasn't even fair and they knew it. But respect to Hampton and their coach. He's a funny, charismatic guy, and they gave it all they had. Props and congrats on making the big dance!
  • Round 32 - Cincinnati (64-51): Cincinnati couldn't ball with us, so they tried to make it a bar fight - and went home missing teeth. Icing on the cake was watching Willie Cauley Stein posterize Dr. Thuganomics Ellis with a literal backbreaking slam that sent him limping to the trainers.
  • Sweet 16 - West Virginia (79-38): You read the score right, West VA got doubled up! Normally I like the Mountaineers, but this year they showed 0 respect. Talking trash before a game on the big stage is always classless, and in this case wasn't very smart. They promised we'd be 36 and 1 when it was over. They also touted their full court press defense and how we'd never break it. I guess someone forgot to tell them the full court press is a long standing Kentucky halmark. Oops. After the game, we were 36 and won. Close enough, right? ;)
  • Great 8 - Notre Dame (68-66): Respect! The Fighting Irish showed up to play some basketball and they brought it! They had a plan and executed it perfectly. They knew we'd shut down their lights out three point game. They knew we'd be unstoppable in the paint and that we've got a few long range snipers of our own. So instead of wasting energy doubling us up inside they focused on stopping our three point shots and just took the inevitable inside scoring. Meanwhile on the offensive side they switched up from their normal game plan and went right to the rim, kicking it out now and again so we still had to worry about the three. It almost worked. Ultimately our length and grit came through for us down the stretch. Could have gone either way though and hats off to them for one heck of a game.

Wisconsin should be another barn burner. They're basically a bigger, stronger version of Notre Dame, but their defense is a bit suspect. We've got every statistical advantage - size, talent, depth, tournament experience, and school pedigree, but you can never count out an underdog. Plus we knocked them out of the tournament last year, and it's always tough to do that twice in a row. Whoever blinks first goes down. Who will it be?

One last note - hats off to Xavier. You gave Arizona all they could handle!

I love March Madness!
