Multiplayer ROM Hacks

If there's two things I love, it's emulation and local co-op. ROM hacking has become much more innovative than simple level editors in recent years, and some hackers have added multiplayer modes to games that were originally a single player experience.

Since I love those kinds of hacks the most, I figured I'd make this thread as a resource for them. Hopefully you'll enjoy these as much as I have, and if you have found others then please share!

NOTE: These are links to patches, not actual ROMs. I'm not sure what Chrono Crash's policy is for this sort of thing, so try to avoid linking directly to ROMs unless DC says otherwise.

amazing i had no idea things like this can be done.

Interesting news!

I really wonder about Seiken Densetsu 3 cause the original game is in Japanese. Will the 3 player patch work with translated rom?

I believe it does. I know I've played it with my brothers, and I only have the translated ROM.

Cool, sonic by three, I will try this one first. The Seiken Densetsu 3 says it only worls with a "rom with header". What  "rom with header" is??someone can tell me ...

Whoa whoa whoa! I didn't know these types of hacks existed! This is amazing!

And it seems they've been around for years. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing!

Nice Topic!

My dream in my childhood was to play Mario and other games in same time with my friends. Now this is possible.

Theres another Hack ROM with this function?

Just to clarify - as Nick said, linking to patches, emulators, and such is OK, but not the ROMs. That's highly illegal and could get us shut down in a heartbeat.

Very cool topic BTW.

in a random purchase, I just bought a NES four score recently  :D - It might actually be useful now.... I just need 3 more people in the same room who like playing NES....lol

Unfortunately not all of these work on actual hardware, using the Everdrive N8 and/or Powerpak.
