Beat em ups that came out recently that didn't quite get on the radar.

Zeno Clash 2

It's been out for a few weeks and the reviews have been harsh the game is definitely better than part 1 so I don't understand? I know it is important to play the tutorial before you start the game so you know all the new moves.

others: Kung Fu Strike pretty fun, Sacred Citadel a castle crashes type game with 2d sprite based graphics, I'm not sure I like the art style but it went totally under the radar, Samurai 2 Vengeance, I love this game, available for PC's and phones.

Sacred Citadel, IMO, plays like crap. I didn't bother with it after a few minutes of the trial... even if I do like the charm it has.

As for beat em ups that went under the radar? My current most favorite game: Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds

Imagine Guardian Heroes with a Sailor Moon-esque theme, button masher gameplay like the Easy mode of Marvel vs Capcom, and a soundtrack that sounds like it was made on Gameboy Color. Oh, and 1-4 player offline co-op.

I've maxed out most of the characters and I'm still playing it. The game never gets old for me.

Thanks for the recommendation Nick I heard about it but didn't really investigate further sounds pretty cool. Kinda agree about SC I didn't like CC that much either but it had it's moments.

The game trailers review was pretty respectful of Zeno Clash 2, personally I can't wait to play it.  Love the first one for the simple fact it was so beautifully bazaar in a crowd of so many mundane games.  Then there's the added bonus that it's basically a first person brawler that's impressively skill base considering how cobbled together the first one felt.

Also picked up Guardian heroes when it went down in price.  Completely missed out on that, I wasn't that big of a Dreamcast guy.

I was equally unimpressed by sacred citadel, the art style wasn't bad but definitely not as good as the 2-D illustrations in their 3-D model form.  I don't understand these new 3-D retro style brawlers hiding the low quality of their models by making them so small, I'm getting old god dammit stop making shit so small!!!

Great nice to see another Zeno Clash fan! Hopefully 2 does well enough for a part 3 but it's not looking so good at the moment. Kinda how Condemed 2 killed off the series event though it was a good game.

I waited years to play GH, love the sprites, gameplay is good but I can't stand the planes, I just need to try it again sometime I guess.

That multiple plane system can be disorientating but you get the hang of it.  But I don't understand is that it's originally just a two-person co-op.  The multiple planes work well with the idea of four simultaneous characters in a mob environment for 2-D side scrolling brawler.

So I just got Batman Brave and the Bold for the Wii, it was pretty awesome.

I also got Ikktosson X cross Impact for PSP, haven't got around to playing it yet, but it looks great on youtube.

Also got Blades of time (lol) must still get around to playing it.
