Actually, there is no problem to have slower characters, so if you increase speed just bit, make sure to increase other playable characters, so, some can be faster, some slightly less faster. etc. ^^
I"m not the biggest fan of Balrog, but sure I would enjoy to have him as a playable character.
This is a chance SFM exists for this reason, to have SF character joining some MK project :)

I tried to help as much as I can with Maki edited spriteset because the project looked very promising.
And I was kind of sad it became in hiatus and some bugs appeared.

Jill from RE3 is my fav. You did soem very decent work with the custom sprite. Including the melee "flip kick" from RE4.

You should give it a try. There are certainly stuffs to reduce without losing of the quality of game.

I prefer your hi res version than the pixelate tweak.
Sure the classic style absolutely looks great as well, but Hi res may give a fresh feeling to your game.
(And I'm a pixel guy...^^)
So, to me, Hi res, or classic are good choices. But not the inbettween.

On Sonya's big portrait, her arms are slightly to thin IMO.
I would move the arm's outer line out by a pixel or two.
Also I would avoid to make her iris' bright effect...
Technically yes.
But to be simple : 100% of them lacks something.
Whatever these "AI artists spriters" use.
They will have this "flashy" kind of satisfiying stuff AI gives, but to someone who actually loves pixiel art, they are "empty"
I don't use AI for pixel art. I cannot say, but again 100%...
