Another incredible piece of work by a Mugen veteran, Falchion22/MugenWorks. What caught my attention the most in this game was the care taken to maintain the essence of the original game while adding new elements, all in harmony.

One of the important points was keeping the battle on two planes, something that was the trademark of the series and that is not easy to do in Mugen (the game uses Mugen 1.1), since Elecbyte removed the Z axis at the time of WinMugen. He also kept the animated versus screen, with the narrator announcing the fighters.

I honestly dunno why everyone keeps dunking on Salvatore, and not on Ronaldo, which arguably is the worse addition of the 2.
Salvatore at least is a fan of the series, understands the fgc, and contributed to the game as the music director. Ronaldo did nothing, bruh couldn't even provide his voice to his character, hell you can't even customize him in game.

But that's all I'll say, don't wanna derail the thread.

As for this game, its a pretty solid adaptation. Gives me extra motivation to keep working on my project.

In my case, it's equal. I'm not dunking on one over the other - I think they are both bad ideas, and a very poor marketing choice. It screams nepotism and self aggrandizement. Not a good look on the franchise.

I will say in the case of the DJ, his appearance (in real life, not just the game) isn't doing him favors IMO. It's very "I think I'm a lot cooler than I am". Reminds me of Alba Meira, who was himself a poorly disguised self insert of Falcoon. Then showing up in place of what could have been an existing character doesn't help his case. Even if he just allowed it and didn't push for it.

All just my opinion of course.

It's very simple to understand and, in the case of the DJ, it's a combination of bad things.

In the case of CR7, I also thought the addition was terrible. But at least I can understand that it was done for marketing reasons - because the video exploded with publicity and reached new bubbles. And also because the owner of SNK (the prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, who now owns 96.18% of the company) also holds the rights to CR7's image and brand.

If they were to add someone real, at least someone related to wrestling, like a WWE star. It would make much more sense.

In the case of the DJ, as I said before, it's a combination of things:
- He only entered the game because... he's a personal friend of the owner. Do you want anything more disgusting than that? Screw the series, screw the story, I'm going to put this person in... because I'm the one in charge.

- He's not very well known, a lot of people have only heard about him now. He could have made a cameo in the Duck King story and it would have been perfect.

- The fact that he knows the FGC doesn't help and I'll say it loud and clear: The FGC is A CANCER, which destroys everything it touches. The games stopped being fun and became a mental retardation of "oh this move is -2 on defense". It's one of the reasons I focused more on Beat em ups than fighting games.

I feel like there's a recent movement that the FGC wants to influence beat em ups (for example, the exaggerated use of combos, which turn good beat em ups in MVC2), but I'd rather the world end in a third world war than see that happen, such is my contempt for the FGC. And I said this in a controversial tweet and I want to repeat it here: If SNK is going to repeat bad choices like it did in the past, let it go bankrupt like it did last time.

(and I won't even get into the political merits of giving money to a company that is now controlled by the prince of a country mired in problems with human rights violations).

I dont care about the FGC but i agree with @O Ilusionista with all the combos ect nerds. (Like that new marvel game they showed recently trying to be MVC) That is not my kind of game I just play as i play and thats for fun i did play this and i did enjoy it.
