Hi guys!
With this game in resources could I do something with it!?
I just want to adjust the grouping of the first level and make a video of it!
This game is too good to be catching dust and is a good example of how a vs game look when turned into a beat em up!

My friend, this game lacks super killing skills! Besides, the enemy is very weak, so update it when you have time. This game is definitely a classic!🙂

@Grit, @William999,

No hostility meant toward either of you. If you want to mess around with a project and make modfications, no one is going to stop you. That's how we learn. However, talking as if there's something wrong with the orginal because it isn't hacked yet is extremely disrespectful IMO.

This game is too good to be catching dust

Explain to me how ~10,000 views over the last year, an aggregate 4.5 star rating from actual objective reviewers, a ubiquitous position in our top resource rankings, and more mentions outside of this community than I could count... is "collecting dust"? What, just because no one has come along and made a "Super Awesome" hack?

@magggas wore out his welcome with behavior issues, but that doesn't change the fact he is a top notch creator. This is a case of you don't know what you don't know, and getting into the various technical intricacies would be a TDLR, so let me explain succiently: Anyone capable of creative parity with @magggas won't have interest in super awesome hacks.

I know I can sometimes seem harsher than I mean to be. Maybe @danno or @O Ilusionista could explain better than I can.

step one : learn coding
step two : code it
step three : completed

You should give it a try if you want it so much ;)

How do I phrase this.
Views, reviews and ratings are linked to players and not developers.
If developers are not making use of it then in my opinion it's catching dust in that regard.
Take nothing way from the game.
Look at Double Dragon 2...there is too games created to be mentioned here from Legacy to Alternate and the list go on.
I'm not even looking for a World Heroes super cut.
My question to you @DCurrent
How many people used this game as a base for their own ideas, not play it?
I will use it then I would like for you to point others who did before me.

I already knew this is what you meant, and it's exactly what I was addressing. IMO seeing someone else's project as nothing more than a stepping stone is highly disrespectful toward the work they put in.

Don't know. Don't care. That's not what it was made for.

I've said my piece and I won’t sit here going tit for tat all day. You do you, and that's fine, really. Just don't expect everyone to agree with it.

You can refer to games for ideas, but I think creators create their works with the hope that people will play them.

I started showing my work around 13 years ago, and originally I wanted to make it for myself to enjoy, but when I joined the community, I received a lot of help and encouragement.

Everyone's ultimate goal will be similar, but there will be some who leave midway or make it to the end. Their goal is to enjoy the work, right?

I knew my work was being mentioned before I came here, and even though I couldn't speak English, I had the courage to come here. And even now, the game is growing even more.

There are many ways to learn and each person's opinion is important, but I hope the original purpose of the work is respected.

If this doesn't become the first, I think the meaning of producing it will fade.

The best thing you can do it is to read reviews here to find out what can be improved and improve it at first. For example, add energy meters for special moves.

To be honest I moved on from this game so I have no intention of going back and forth on it or doing anything outside of what I initially did with the first level.
I tried to get a hold of the author at one point back then no avail.
Like @DD Tokki and most would suggest that it is better to refer to games for ideas.
That's exactly what I been doing.
Since Kratus gave me Stf vs Kof
I been working on that and won't make time for anything else.
I'm trying to perfect the mechanics.
That game has more in common with what I want to accomplish.
The only thing I would look at when it come to this game are the levels and most importantly, how slams are done to perfection in this regard.
@Kotix I looked at many reviews and saw that some people would point out issues with games and not offer any solution.
Moving enemies around in a meaningful way was something I would have suggested since I thought the game threw too many enemies at a time that at the player, you don't really get to see what they can do.
4 or 5 on screen would be enough.
I usually go back to the arcade games and look at how they did it back then and try to replicate it.
Rage of Dragons does combos that keep the enemy in the air rather well since I don't really like how enemies float when punched like in Tekken.
I'm too caught up with Street fighter Alpha, World Heroes is dope but I think I will leave it where it is.

I actually forgot about this and been caught up with your wiki and my own game I'm working on.
I appreciate you taking the time to address this though.
You have my thanks.

THIS. Can we put this on a frame in the wall?
One thing that really irritates me is when someone takes someone else's work and says they are going to "improve" it, as if the original was bad. I find this extremely offensive and immature.

This game is too good to be catching dust
That's another thing that irritates me: just because the creator didn't work on the game anymore - for whatever reason, including thinking he's already done everything he wanted to do with that project - people think the project "died". Or that it "needs a HACK".
I constantly watch gameplays of this game on YouTube and I remember that it was fun to play.

And @Grit If you allow me to be honest with you, I saw you wanting to work on several projects to, according to you, improve it. You commented the same about my Avengers game, you commented on a Pierwolf game and now you're commenting on a Maggas game...

...don't you think it's time for you to work on your own game?
Editing specific things in projects is much simpler, piece of cake, than making an entire game, because that's when you realize how much work it is, how much time you spend doing it and because some people don't really like it when someone shows up saying they're going to "improve" the game. work they did.

And I agree with what DCurrent said: regardless of my personal disagreement with Magggas, he has always been a good creator and this game has always been a lot of fun to play. Personally, do I think a hyper bar (and each character having a hyper) would be good for the game? Yes. But I think this should be taken to the original creator as an offer of help, not "I'll improve your work."

A great example of this was Don Dragon offering help (which is very different from "I'll improve your abandoned work") in Pierwolf's Final Fight Gold and the two worked together to make an even better version.

I usually make suggestions for improvements to friends' games, changing the content of something and sending it to the author privately, as I've done with Zvitor several times. But never with this sense of "I'm going to improve your work" but rather to really help.

This is how to do things correctly :)

"Hi guys!

I just want to adjust the grouping of the first level and make a video of it!"

The above-mentioned was what I originally posted in Jan and I moved on from that since no one responded.
Anyone please point out what is so offensive here?
To be honest what is really annoying is when my words get taken out of context or exaggerated beyond of my intent and don't get me started on assumptions.
A simple yes let's see what you have mind for it or No, rather get in touch with the author would
of been better then what I'm currently reading.

The important words here are "as if the original is bad".
That's a reach.
I read some harsh reviews and felt like what would help the game is adjusting enemy placement.
If anyone think that enemy placement in WHSJ and FHR is on point then I would beg to differ.
Some moves could also have their delays reduced but that besides the point.
If the Authors were around I would have message them privately and you wouldn't have heard a thing of it.

Heck evens P. Wolf said take FHR and do as you will with it. I won't assume that it was in response to the feedback or reviews.
My only intention was just to revamp the first level and nothing more since it was in resources.

You have fond memories of the game then good for you.
I read that it would be best to work on projects that was already done with the consent of said authors when I started out with my limited knowledge of enemy placement/delays only.
I figure that was the best way to learn.
Where I'm at now currently, I'm working on my own project which is what I always wanted to do since forever and it's way more fun seeing it come together then working on someone else's project and they can't even speak for themselves here.
Regarding your game my comment was on Hulk/Wolverine and stopped pursuing it since I feel like my views are being misinterpreted.
The game you made is far better then the game it's based upon and a example of what I would like to see happen to most arcade games and I pointed out this on numerous occasions.
...don't you think it's time for you to work on your own game?
Haven't I been doing this?
Got a Youtube channel evens and I didn't want to go that route but was advised by a person who know better.
I always wanted a STF beat em up and I'm making it for me and not concerned with releasing it since it's copyright material and if I was skilled enough to craft my own game I would take a different approach.

I just been working on my beat em up and asking a few questions.
Don't care about revamps and all that drama
I seen the mess that come with it.
I hope this clear things up.

@Grit

Friend, I can give some explanations based on my technical point of view using my SFvsKOF game as an example, once you are using it.

The point is, the SFvsKOF is an expression of my ideas put on a game. So, things you don't like in this game maybe are things I like in this game and I made all of them intentional.

That said, if you make changes based on things you like, you can't say that they are "fixes" because indeed they are not problems for me, they are my original ideas (even if the game has 1 star rate and it's hated all over the world, still are my original ideas). You could say that referring to a bug which causes crashes or glitches but it's very restricted to these points.

Now, let's suppose you make many changes in the SFvsKOF game based on your desires, none is related to bugs or glitches, and you post a video on your Youtube channel saying that it's a better and fixed version of the game without the original author's consent. Not good.

However, it's perfectly fine if you use the game focused on learning in order to code your own from scratch, plus you would have support from many people here.

I just want to adjust the grouping of the first level and make a video of it!"
Sincerely, why? I would love to see a video showing your progress learning and applying your recently acquired knowledge into a new project.

The project I been working on is World Warrior.
It's only thanks to your game that I came across @cmd dasher and leaper to create fluid movement that was previously missing from my take on Ken's attacks.
I just place 2 of my characters in your training room and that's it.

You 100% correct in this regard.
I sent a message to person about their game then asked if I could make a video showcasing my thoughts on it ,they said cool send it and sent them a private link and once they saw it I deleted it.
I asked what they thought. They said it's OK and that was it.

SFvsKOF is a great idea, I suggested before that if you were to revisit the game would you consider using sprites from a game like SVC chaos just so STF characters don't look out of place since SNK did a great job on them and also bring to your attention of Kof 99 story revolving around Kyo clones.
its a matter of me just putting it out there and asking what you think of it depending on the what it is I'd like to discuss
However, it's perfectly fine if you use the game focused on learning in order to code your own from scratch, plus you would have support from many people here.
I'm just trying to perfect the gameplay mechanics.
Then it's on to stages and story boards that I collected in advance from the Alpha games.
I wrote a story for it already to justify the cast for the game.
Which include hugo from STF3, Jill from RE5 and a few others.
Sincerely, why?
When I saw that the 2 people who's games really inspired me (I'm of an opinion that a vs game would make for a great beat em up)
were unavailable here and I saw their games in the resource, I asked if I could do something with it.
Otherwise I wouldn't of bother.
I wanted move enemies around on the first level and add a sub boss like Jack and ask what you all thought of it.
You can't appreciate a fight if there is 10 enemies on screen and you spam the same move.
In FHR some move could have their delays reduced and that's it.
I read review that go hard on them.
I feel like the game only struggle in that aspect.
Look closely at beat em ups and how they made back in the day and enemy placement was alway a thing for me.
Cadillacs and Armored warriors are perfect examples of enemy placement done right.
I'll be placing enemies like in games like knuckle bash and violent storm.

Good, you've made great progress on building combos :)
This is what I'm talking about in my previous post, now you need to put it in practice in your project. Count on me to test and give feedback.

Yeah, in this case your procedure was totally correct. You sent me suggestions to improve one of my games instead of crazily editing it and calling it your "improved version".
Maybe if one day I got back to it, we could work together.

I arrived on the seen when those games were already complete.
What I suggested would usually fall under feedback and nothing more.
The discussion about my suggestion is more important then seeing it actually implemented.
Maybe if one day I got back to it, we could work together.
The only suggestion I have is to consider using SVC chaos sprites for the Street Fighter characters and levels from kof so that everything look coherent.
I don't want to get in the way of the initial idea for that game.
I'll post from my own project after this.
