Violent Storm OpenBORs

I don't know if there are any OpenBORs based on Violent Storm, but if someone does decide to make one, one mechanic that would be cool would be to give Boris, Wade & Kyle the ability to block, since just about every enemy in said game does that. Also, maybe a playable Sheena as well, and I wonder what her move list would be like? Mind you, I don't know anything about creating OpenBORs (and besides, I've got the dreaded "real-life" syndrome just like the rest of us), but if I did, I'd gladly make it myself.

Oddly, Violent Storm has been mostly untouched by the community. Not sure why honestly. Its mechanics are simple to replicate and the sprites are available. Thus far though, no takers I know of (nor myself, I prefer to work on original IP now).

Why don't you start recovering all the missing sprites? I'm happy to help you create a project base and explain how the commands work.

I almost started one, had main chars ripped around 2010.It has one of my fav mechanics cause its super fast when you tap attack.
I do not have rips anymore but i sent them to some sprite ripping sites back then.

I remember long time ago a video of a WIP of this series was posted on Youtube.
2 projects actually.
-One was a sprite swap of Bor (very early state)
-The other one was a more ambitious project and mixed up stuffs with characters from otrher games, but doesn't look like Violent Storm at all.
I have absolutely no trace or more information of them, and they were considered cancelled more than 10 years ago. Never posted here or in Lavalit website. Only on Youtube.

Actually, it was in my mind more than one time, it would not be so hard to do, but very long to code for someone like me.
Here, many people would make it in few weeks I think. (If all the ressources were 100% ready - All sprites and All sounds), But I think most of these creators just don't really want to work on such a "forgettable" game, when we have tons of SOR/DD/FF/Marvel/DC games.

2 suggestions :
-Waiting for 10 more years for someone to make it.
-Trying to learn Openbor basics, and try your best. It's definitely doable if you accept to give it the time you think it deserves.

It's really not that hard at all. You need a slam script of course, but that's just about it. Everything is in the game is very straight forward and part of the engine's native feature set. I just looked up and saw the sprites. There's a few missing, but a lot of it is there.

I can confirm, it's easy, but long to do when coding is not something natural to you.

And also confirm that most of the bosses are not ripped and many enemies as well.
ryuken, hogun, spike, bull, lollypop, dabel, joe, doyle, julius, red freddy, geld (there is zero resource for these characters)
I thing the backgrounds are ripped, but flat, no layers.

But sure it would be great if someone who have enough motivation and time make this happen.

EDIT : Heh, I just noticed I actually posted a message in 2017 on "The Spriters Resource" with the hope of more content.
Now, I have no more time to code anything. It's not even an eventuality for me.
