I used a 3D paint/photo art program to create a conceptual shot of what my Star Wars shooter might look like at a pinnacle point from visions. These are all actual sprites I am working with although they mostly will (of course) have a lower bit rate. They still look great in game however. .As you can see in this scene I was hoping to take advantage of the 2.5 capability to make the tie fighters emerge from the Star Destroyer and if you notice there is an Imperial shuttle emerging from the Death Star. Though it remains an untiltled project it will be something titled reflective of the original trilogy scenes that may have happened or could have happened. Although it will begin as a simple 2D shooter this is what I would like to accomplish eventually if my skills allow me to do this one day. Instead of being a long game with tons of levels, I hope to create a series of short but fun and intense challenges that would be the length of the average arcade game from the retro era.. I have no target date in mind just hopes for the future. Though when I feel it has reached a playable point I will release at least a Demo. Like Emperor Palpatine I have foreseen this being a project that evolves and advances as my abilities hopefully do as well in time to a final version of my vision. May the force be with you.
I would be grateful for any input criticism positive or negative and open to any suggestions. I would also love to hear from those talented enough to have created their own projects. I'm a noob to open nor but not necessarily to C++ and using engines, coding modifications etc.
Here is what I hope to accomplish and what I expect will be required to do so and what I expect from myself
Animation linked with game play not just cutscenes. Rinse and repeat.
Deliver an ambitious fun factor reminiscent of the arcade era+ of the magic of the original Star Wars trilogy (The only Trilogy to me)
Balance fun with specific moderate challenging gameplay
To be open minded and not be deterred by failure. Trial an error is part of the 'game'
Never give up or abandon just because one idea doesn't work out
Hopefully eventually implement 2 player mode and/or player Vs. CPU simple battle mode perhaps with the goal being first to reach a number of kills
FINISH THE GAME
Most importantly have fun working on it.
Finally check that off the bucket list
May the force be with you.
