New Wiki

Little project I've been working on for quite some time, and finally have ready to make public: The New OpenBOR Wiki!

There are only a few articles thus far, and certainly not everything an author needs to get going, but it will all come in time.

I thought you won't add the list style manual to the wiki.
Any plans to check some info from the manual? For example, the getentitypropriety has some errors as you told me.

Plus, how we start to add examples like we had in your previous wiki? If you could remove the 301 redirection from the old wiki (we can't access it thought Way Back Machine), we could start to import things from there.

Oh I hate that list with a passion, but until the real wiki gains traction, it's still useful enough to keep around - and on a host we control.

It's a wiki, just jump in and add stuff like you would any other. The beauty of it is we can correct things incrementally if they are out of date, mistaken, or whatever.

As for the old one, there is simply no way to get information out of it a timely manor - the database stores articles in binary, and the wiki version it ran on is too old to upgrade. That was one of the main problems with MediaWiki back in the day - if it went out of date you were kind of screwed. Thankfully they have since corrected that design flaw.

It's not impossible - I certainly could get stuff out of it, but it would be a full time task that I just can't devote myself to right now. Sorry. :(

After making so much for Mugen since the early days, I'm glad to see your contribution to the Openbor scene as well !

You're welcome. Sonic Revolution's article is pretty ready. Also making articles on the inputs and buttons of the engine.

how do you make a page about specific modules ? cant see any clear instructions

You can just type in the name of the module, and then start to edit it. You can use my Sonic Revolution page as a guideline.

Hint for those who are adding modules: add a compatibility list.

  • openBOR version: X to Y
  • OS/Consoles:
    • Windows
    • Linux
    • DreamCast
    • PSP
    • Wii
    • whatchamacallit
    • ...

Would love to add 'Battletoads Double Dragon: The Revenge' on that wiki. How do I add it to the list of modules? I see no "add page" or "edit page" button or something like that.

Wikis don't work that way. You just search for a topic, and if it doesn't exist, the wiki gives you an option to add it.

Adding module articles is nice and all, but will anyone help me with the articles on the features of OpenBOR? I have articles on Buttons, Neon, Freespecial, and Special currently.

It seems I can't add a page. It doesn't let me. Everytime I try to create a page, I get the following screen.

Click on the picture to make it bigger. Read the text that I made blue at the end.

Hey guys, I have to apologize. While I was gone for a few days, the spammers found and effectively took over the Wikki. I've cleaned up the mess and put in some experimental anti spam measures, but I'm afraid I did make one bone head move in the process - I accidentally deleted ALL registered accounts, including my own.  ::)

There's no going back. I had to manually restore my account, and the rest of you will also need to do the same. None your pages were affected, only accounts. You'll just need to recreate them next time you log in. Sorry about that.  :(
