New Marvel Beat em UP

Looks like we will have a new Marvel beat em up game

REALLY getting their money's worth out of TMNT. I'm kind of hating this, because these studios are very, VERY quickly running beat em' ups into the ground as a genre. It's going to be a super niche laughing stock kind of thing again before we know it.

Spiderman, Storm, Wolverine and Captain America honest to goodness look like they just reduced the old Capcom sprites. Almost 1:1 down to the animation frame. Not a bad thing obviously, just interesting.

Also looks like they are not going with the black outline art this time.

Also, random pet peeve... opening a video, and at least half of it is cut scenes. Then when you do see some game-play, it's all fast edit nonsense. Just show us the game please.

Definitely playing this. Looks soo much similar to Shredder's revenge though :D
Can't say I am a big fan of the roster, I hope they will add more characters.

LOL, I was just about to post this!! When this game is released someone should rip all the sprites from this game as well as all the other lookalikes and put them together in 1 giant sized beat'em up at this point ROFL!!!!

It seems that Dotemu is visiting us regularly lol, some levels resembles @O Ilusionista's AUBF.

Yeah, I think the same. IMO it looks like the devs of these new games are treating the genre as a kind of "slot machine" to make quick money, taking advantage of the nostalgia.

When SOR4 arrived, I was expecting that they would revive the genre putting more love in every work, after many years of dormancy. I expected more polishing and DLCs, leaving a good amount of time between each release.

Oh I hated it too!

Points I have about the game, although still in its early stages:

- I like that they threw a curveball using Phyla-Vell with the sword. Because if they did, people would just stick with the same old characters (although Marvel is the one who decides that, and they are known for stupid decisions). But you can expect names like Hulk for sure.

- I'm sure they'll waste some slot on some completely unnecessary urban character, like Daredevil.

- One of the game's sprites is an old sprite from the Mugen community (just like in the TMNT game)

- I like that it reminds me of the TMNT game, but I'm starting to see a certain pattern here, a level that smells like reskin.

- I confess that on one hand, I got excited about the game. On the other hand, it discouraged me from continuing to work on my AUBF project. In the case of the Power Rangers game, I have an incredible spriter on my side and I know I can fight on equal terms (many people have already said that our project is better than Rita's Rewind). But here... I don't have that impression.

I don't know, based on what Dotemu did with SOR4 I think your AUBF already is better, mainly in the long term.

They will surf the hype, make some quick money, and then suddenly will forget everything and jump to a new project even without fixing some annoying bugs or adding some cool DLCs based on player's feedback.

Another thing is, this game may create an opposite effect and bring new players for your game. Using SORX as an example, although I lost around 50% of the public when SOR4 was announced, in the long term part of this public came back together with more new players that were expecting more SoR related content.

Judging from the trailer, this game looks like a decent beatem up. Too bad only Storm, Venom and Wolverine who have shown their super attack. Captain should be throwing his shield and Spidey should be webtrapping some enemies.

The character select screen reminds me of MVC and come to think of it...
A Openbor Marvel beat em up would be crazy. Marvel: Secret wars or Avengers vs Xmen inspired.
Xmen: Danger room - is a name I came up with that allow crazy cross overs by adding Thanos to the mix.

Please don't give up on AUBF, it is a different game, there is no competition to be honest. And why not have several awesome games of the same IP anyway? Like we have Shredder's revenge but also Rescue palooza and both are awesome :D

P.S. that big roster is going to be awesome. Almost a size of a fighting game roster, which is great and is pretty rare for beat'em ups.

I've recalled someone in discord mentioned another trailer for this game:

This one shows Captain throwing shield and Spidey using his spiderweb to grab and pull an enemy. The video also shows two bosses and Venom's ability to parry an enemy's attack.
