Module Uploads Removed

I had received numerous complaints about the module upload posts by banned member Ripfire and his aliases, including "M.D. Geist". On the surface these mod postings might have seemed benevolent, but after the complaints I looked closer and discovered every single post was full of misinformation. Every. Single. One. On top of that, most of the mods themselves were poor hacks with a modified title screen where Ripfire gave special thanks - to himself.

It is for these reasons I have decided to remove all of his posts, including and especially the module uploads. My apologies to anyone this might upset; members are free and welcome to post modules here - that's one of the very reasons this forum exists. But you are NOT free to take credit for others work, post misinformation, or to use us as some kind of billboard to raise your internetz street cred. Most everyone here has the common sense to know the difference. If you have any questions, by all means feel free to ask.

well its good you caught them out in time giving credit to yourself for every single game is a devils doing i thought his info was illegal and i also noticed that alot of games he put up were never posted back in lavalit for that matter like double dragon 4 for instance now if games are gonna be added i think its best the orginal creator puts them up or at least get permission for doing it dont go ahead and think its ok to take all the credit and upload it with out permission very bad indeed  ::)
 
Thanks, DC. I thought of him as a strange person for spamming topics on uploads at first. Also, he posted a Bullseye (by Goresickness and O's friend, Doom) topic. I downloaded Doom's game and it's fine, but looking at GlassJawBoxer's post saying that it doesn't function, it seemed kinda strange. Because of the problem, I PM'ed Doom about this and I had him sign up here to inform him, plus I gave him a link where he posted. Plus, I downloaded Santiago Infected mod that "M.D. Geist" uploaded I think and I got errors after downloading and extracting so I couldn't play it.

I went to his blog by going to Google when I typed "Unelmia OpenBOR" (but I typically typed it in all lowercases in search) and saw the uploads in there a few days before Lavalit went down. When I looked at his blog, I was like, "Man, WTF is that guy doing?" Unelmia and Bullseye are/were included there. Man, I noticed that guy always collects OpenBOR mods from Lavalit (or probably here?) and Atlas without permission.
 
Ripfire youre the best, i want to be you when i grow up. :'( Hope youre reading this while raping another mod.
 
Did he really add himself to the title screen of all those mods? That's... just plain silly.  ::)

And here I was, thinking he was performing a service by re-uploading all those mods. Oh well...
 
Hey guys,

Just wondered if anyone would be so kind as to start uploading the paks again.

Lavalit went down then my HDD with ALL the games on shit itself in the same week  :'(

Think I should go buy a lotto ticket!  :-\

 
I never would have imagined this, I thought he was a nice guy, my bad, oh well it is always good to know how stuff works, thanks DC

I never thought he would hack the mod and reupload without asking permission 1st.
 
Strange, and I thought he was a great guy...

That's not really related but I just sent a mail to Volcanic to show him the new home of openBOR. As he's Chinese he can't find it on Facebook. I suppose he'll upload his games here (Rocket Viper 2 and his Bare Knuckles games).

EDIT: I just noticed that lavalit.com redirects here, so I guess he could have found it himself... Nevermind, the link is broken when you type lavalit.com:8080 anyway. :]
