Favorite Modules (games) with OpenBoR? Care to share your top 5 list?

I am a new OpenBoR user.  Wanted to ask others to share their favorite modules (games) with OpenBoR? If anyone can share your top 5 list, I would appreciate that.  Also, is there a resource that lists all of the OpenBoR Modules by downloads and ranking?  I found http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/gp32.cgi?0,0,0,4,11 however, wanted to know if there were other sites that people could recommend that have this format?  Lastly wanted to ask which Modules (games) with OpenBoR had New York City backgrounds like the original Streets of Rage?

Well, I am a big fan of Pierwolf's works. With not disrespect to the other coders, he is my favorite.
Try his Super Final Fight Gold, for example. There are many other modules done by him at the downloads section.

My Top 5 OpenBOR games are:

1: Avengers: United Battle Force, made by the lovely Illusionista above. It's one of the best games in general (not just OpenBOR) I've ever played and it's not even finished yet. It'll be a masterpiece.

2: Marvel First Alliance 2 and Marvel Infinity War by Zvitor. Very cool games with tons of characters. The only downside to these games is that they are relentlessly hard and frustrating. I hope you like masochism. Best played with 2 players probably!

3: Jennifer. A horror-themed game with awesome visuals and sound. It is legitimately creepy, especially if you play on full volume with headphones and turn out your lights. Some amazing dark themes and imagery if you're into that sort of thing. I still hope for a remake/sequel.

4: Super Final Fight Gold by Pierwolf. It is a very well-made game with tons of characters from Final Fight and Street Fighter all with their traditional moves and Supers. This is also a hard game due to the juggle physics, but if you have good patience, it's a lot of fun.

5: Mortal Kombat: The Chosen One by DanteDevil. Another game still in development but already with very cool stuff. Not a huge cast of characters (yet) but the characters all have MANY moves and combos and even fatalities so it may take a while to learn to play compared to other games. Mechanically it is very impressive. It's also very hard (especially later on) but definitely worth checking out.

Welcome to the cult ;) Hope you have fun.

My most favorite OpenBor game is the He-Man and She-Ra game made by BWWD the sprites and art make it look like it was directly taken from the show itself and I love the cast of characters on offer atm, I really hope it gets an update some day this year.

I also love pierwolf mods.

My top 5 is (in no order of the best) ;

-Final fight gold
-Fighter's history revenge
-Ryuuko no ken nekketsu
-Splatterhouse trilogy
-World heroes supreme justice

We have some great mods here about superheroes, they're great, but i dont like western superheroes, so...

I wish more anime/manga themed mods...!

Thank you: O Ilusionista, Psykai, liamx2000, masterderico.  Really appreciate all of your helpful comments.  Some really amazing modules listed here.  Jennifer is really out there.  The He Man mod is really true to the characters.  Still going through it all.

Hello there dosgamer, my name is Jeremiah Cuff and welcome to Chrono Crash. You want to know what are anyone's top 5 favorite mods, i'll share mine with you. they are:

1: D&D Rise of the Warduke, my favorite medieval based beat em up mod developed by both Bloodbane and Count Monte. Bloodbane did a very good job putting together the storyline that revolves around the paladin Strongheart and his fellowship's struggle against Iuz the Old and the ridiculously overpowered yet mysterious half-devil Warduke. a lot of content from the arcade games like D&D Chronicles of Mystara, Golden Axe: The Duel and Revenge of Death Adder, or Knights of Valour have been added to this mod, allowing players to take the role of heroes and villains throughout the missions they have to embark on the map of Greyhawk. a very epic game if you enjoy playing it for 5 hours or more.

2: Knights & Dragons: The Endless Quest, another epic open world based mod before Rise of Warduke, crafted by the hands of Pierwolf (One of my favorite modders next to Bloodbane.). This game's concept revolves around the characters and classes of my favorite Capcom Play System 1 arcade games King of Dragons and Knights of the Round. A very good beat em up if anyone is interested in wide screen 4-player medieval style action.

3: Shiva & Lisa Trilogy, a trio of streets of rage mods developed by Master Derico that revolves around the two villains/anti-heroes belonging to Mr. X's Syndicate. The first two mods were good, but the Shiva & Lisa 3 mod was the best out of all three of them since you can play as three characters as they embark on the warpath of betrayal, love, violence, and crime.

4: D&D Stranger Heroes Dragon Slayers, another D&D Mod developed by K' Dumal whose dark storyline shows that not everything is always black and white. you can take on the role as four characters who are a lone gnoll archer Hien, the enigmatic Dark Elf Enyets , the loyal war mage Nivlek or the overthrown king Avlis. The interesting take on this game is throughout the story, players can choose certain paths that revolve around the alignments of Chaos, Order, or Neutral which can lead to either a good, bad or normal endings depending what area you choose. recommended for those who like dark and edgy beat em ups especially with heavy metal music performed by John 5 in the background.

5: Neon Lightning Force, a Denjin Makai based mod developed by Spanish modder Crimson Death from the fan game group True Role Dreams. Has a very good 90s anime-esque story plot, cool characters hailing from both Denjin Makai and Guardians/Denjin Makai II, as well as very badass music from the soundtracks like Crimson Tears, The Bouncer, or the Yakuza series. The gameplay is a little unfair with the choppy controls and all, but this is a well received mod for those that enjoy futuristic beat em ups by Banpresto.

Well that's all the favorite mods I have to share with you, but anyways welcome to the family dosgamer!  :)

No problem at all Master Derico and my apologies for leaving out Mona as well lol.  :)

For sure Bwwd's works should be played, specially He-Man. One of the first mods I played when I "returned" to OpenBOR was his Fighting Spirit mod.

Another favorite creator of mine is Mersox. He shares with Pierwolf the same reason which I admire their works: They looks like commercial games, official games. Mersox had developed an style which is consistent in his games, which gave a wonderful result.

You can download his games here https://gamejolt.com/@Mersox

Yet another wondeful creator is White Dragon. He is one of the devs of the engine itself, so you can imagine how good his game is. It pushes the engine beyond its limits. https://gamejolt.com/games/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-shell-shocked-the-arcade-game/35259

And, for sure, take a look at DanteDevil's Mortal Kombat game http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?topic=1871.0

Well my top 5 picks of mods/modders is in no particular order

1. Pierwolf (Knights and Dragons, Super Final Fight, etc) Probably one of my favorite modders in the last ten or so years since I know about in the OpenBor scene. He takes regular beat'em ups like the Knights and Dragons and giving it a major overhaul like a actual combo system and combining elements from D&D is nothing short of greatness

2. O illusionista (Avengers Battle United Force) From his recent stay here in Chrono Crash, he went from rookie to student to master of the structure of OpenBor and knows how to make improvements and adding features to make it unique with Captain America and The Avengers. New and improved characters with move sets, visual effects to make it more pop and flair like in the comic books and more. I'm looking forward to the final and complete version of this great game

3.  DanteDevil (Mortal Kombat the Chosen One) From a demo, this game feels complete and still adding new fan favorite characters like Robocop and Batman and also refining gameplay mechanics like the fatality system and gruesome environment kills and he prove to be a great modder in his own right.

4. MerosX (Power Rangers Battle for Power) His games feel commercial games with his Power Rangers and TMNT demos giving a classic feel.

5. Zvitor (Marvel Infinity War and Justice League mod) He brought the inner kid in me when he took some of the classic superhero games on the SNES and Genesis/Megadrive and giving it the updated treatment, man I wish he had these types of games back in the 90's

I am a new OpenBoR user. Wanted to ask others to share their favorite modules (games) with OpenBoR? If anyone can share your top 5 list, I would appreciate that. Also, is there a resource that lists all of the OpenBoR Modules by downloads and ranking? I found OpenHandhelds gp32 File Archive - Browse - Home:GP32 - Games:Addons:Beats of Rage however, wanted to know if there were other sites that people could recommend that have this format? Lastly wanted to ask which Modules (games) with OpenBoR had New York City backgrounds like the original Streets of Rage?
Thanks for the information!

The ranking is in no particular order, with only one criterion: to recommend interesting games for new OpenBOR players:
Author, Game Name, Link, and Description

1、LNS Team - Final Fight LNS Ultimate
Rich in content! Featuring 120 playable characters from different IPs, with numerous stages inspired by Capcom's classic arcade games. It offers consistent command inputs, energy management, level system, and smooth combos... And at higher difficulty levels, it tests players' blocking timing, so excitement.

2、Kratus - Streets of Rage X (Windows / Android)
The release of Streets of Rage 4 rekindled the popularity of beat 'em up games. For players like me, who hadn’t experienced this series before, Streets of Rage X offers a retro experience with a modern touch.

3、O Ilusionista - Avengers United Battle Force
Featuring heroes with unique abilities, some of which are quite impressive. This demo version is already a complete game, and the creator is still expanding the content.

4、O Ilusionista - Pocket Dimensional Clash 2
With the visual style of the Neo-Geo Pocket by SNK. the game’s highlight is that the skill moves have two keystroke options, making it quite convenient. Players can either use traditional directional inputs + attack or choose single direction + special key. The game content continues still expanding...

5、kt住江 - Complete - Double Dragon Bangaihen
マンドー & kt住江 - "AA Shadow Gaiden" or other works (kt住江さんの自作ゲームの紹介!)
These complete games reminiscent of River City Ransom and Double Dragon. The creator used the OpenBOR engine without adding extra scripts, so these games are simple. These're great for relaxing, and suitable for engine newcomers to study by breaking down the source files.

These are my favorites:
1st - Art Of Fighting - Trouble in South Town - By John Silva.
2nd - Street Of Rage Z3 - By Pu-DU
3rd - Mortal Kombat the Chose One - By Dante Devil
4th - Vendetta Super Recargado - By Pablo M. Vera
5th - Crime Busters - By Bloodbane
6th - World Heroes - Supreme Justice Extra - By Magggas.
I decided to list only 6, because there are many good titles and many in progress, such as Avengers: United Battle Force by Ilusionista and King of Rage by DD Toki.
