Announcing my 3rd and final Mugen game Fantasy Fighter (Working Title). Just like my Punisher game I will be taking 2D beat'em characters and turning them in fighting game characters, but this time with a fantasy twist. Here is a video showing off the concept I have so far.

I suggest Phantasm of Violence for the title. Nice work so far, though I am aware that “Fighter” is actually named Crassus. Some suggestions:

* Dora the Centaur (GA4)
* Harpy (Shadow over Mystara)
* Great Dragonian (King of Dragons)
* Centurion (Altered Beast)
* Cisty (Dungeon Magic)

I also wonder if there will be unplayable characters like in Punisher Warzone.

Thanks guys those are some good selections & I already sprites for most of those characters. The King of the Dragons characters are pretty limited in sprites and those characters will most likely be summons that any character can pickup to have a companion for a short time in battle similar to the Magic Sword companions system.
 
I saw the video and I loved the idea. Talk with @Bloodbane because his Rise of Marduk has plenty of characters you can use :)

I have just two suggestions for you to consider:
- Since the characters are small, I would suggest you to get rid of the zoom. It makes the characters even smaller, so it does more harm than good.

- Or you can change the widescreen setting (using the cutlow and cuthigh settings if I'm not mistaken) to change how the camera focuses on the action.

The way you used it, the game is adapting the wide resolution to the width, which leaves a lot of space at the top and bottom of the screen. Try doing the opposite, adapting the height to the resolution - this makes the characters appear larger on the screen.

You can see this in action if you download the vanilla version of Mugen 1.1 - This way you can even try to keep zooming, if you prefer.

One comment that I think is valid for your other games is working on camera sensitivity, especially when zooming. If I remember correctly, we have a controller to configure the camera's zoom sensitivity when a character jumps, as we have to control how much the camera moves when the character jumps.

You could try an approach like what happens in the MVC series - the camera only moves upwards when the character performs a high jump (be it a double jump or a super jump); For normal jumps, the camera does not move.

This avoids the very common Motion Sickness when you have 2 characters jumping - if you watch a 4-player video, you will notice how much the camera moves excessively.

I saw you commented "last project" - are you thinking about stopping?

Nice idea to see a companion idea; there are a few other characters that could work for that gimmick, mostly generic enemies like some stuff from GA2/3.

And this being your last full game is a good send off to your legacy… though I did wonder how your take on a Mecha fighting game (Power Rangers, Gundam, Cyberbots, OMF2097, etc) would play out.
 
Anyone have any ideas for a name for the game? People seemed to not like me calling the Punisher game what I did, so I thought I would ask around if anyone had any ideas. Example : VS Quest
 
VS Quest sounds fine, but my original idea was Phantasm of Violence. I also have some more character suggestions:

* Neff (Altered Beast)
* Death Adder (Golden Axe 4)
* Kurenai (Sengoku 3, the prior games had more fitting sprites but blended urban and fantasy stuff so I’m not sure where they fit)
* Ramaya (Arabian Fight)
* Lissa (Arabian Magic)
* Mika (Hook)
* Rastan (Rastan Saga 3)
* Fairy (Gaiapolis)
* Lamia (Blade Master)

There are also a few other games that I’m not sure would fit in well, like Gaia Crusaders and Metamorphic Force.

Hmmm... I don't know what to call it. But I have some ideas for the title name:

- A Warrior's Gallantry (I feel like it's not gonna work)
- A Path to Gallantry (mmm.. somewhat)
- The Conquest of Atlas
- The Battle Dome of Phantasm
 
I think the interface could be based on stuff from Red Earth,Golden Axe the Duel, Mace: The Dark Age, etc. It would also be really cool to see a custom-sprites version of the Sorceress from Dragon’s Crown.

Another thing, how “brutal” will the game be, as in will there be finishers like in Punisher Warzone?
