Hello my brothers and sisters of Chrono Crash, Here's another beat em up project that I created and got finished throughout this month called Dynasty Assassin, it tells the story about a surviving chinese assassin named Mei Shuan, who is fighting to save her little brother and mother who have been kidnapped imperial forces of the Tang Dynasty led by Empress Wu Zetian, who started an massive genocide on the clans of the Lin Qui (Forest Demons) to get her hands on the Renshu Scrolls.

There are six stages to play through as well as bonus stages to play through after you beat the game. The download link for this mod is also available. So enjoy yourselves and let me know what you think!

Great!

BTW how did you create some of backgrounds you used in the gif above? they seem to suffer colorloss

Oh I downloaded some chinese oriental theme backgrounds from different sites and resized them for the game. And I also created the some of the stage backgrounds from scratch by making screenshots of the different layers of the levels from Warriors of Fate, Knights of Valour, etc.

And I'll try to fix the color loss but I'm not really that good at making palettes. Can you help out on this?

Sure, send me the original background images which hasn't been converted to indexed images yet. I'll convert them properly without colorloss (or less colorloss)

Thanks Bloodbane, i'll do that right away.  :)

I like the idea.

Just same feedback :
-Color loss.  :-[
-regular lifebar+hud
-really simple gameplay

All these aspects can be a little improved.

Maybe you're right about the same aspects I been using for my games Ned, but I am not good with anything else besides making a simple linear beat em ups with some bonus stages added to them, however Bloodbane did helped me out with the backgrounds and converted them without any color loss. I'll try to add some more features like different lifebars, weapons or character dialogue like they do it in Knights of Valour 2 style soon. But I do apologize if you don't like it so far Ned.  :(

I just want to clarify, you don't have to apologize, you make a game first for yourself.
The way you like.  ;)

But it's true that going a level higher is not easy. Again, I consider myself an artist, just an artist, but I tried to understand all that is into the initial openbor manual, I tested most of the possible features, and it make it easy to choose some I want to put in a game.

I'm still not into scripting because it goes ahead my own logic. Beside of the throw/slam script.

I'm sure you can make your future games even better! Just by avoiding the color loss, your game would look 100times better (visually)

Good luck anyway!! 8)

You know I think I feel a lot better thanks to your encouraging words Ned, I'll be sure to try something new next time when making a new game project for the openbor engine. Thanks for the feedback!  :)

Here's my playthrough of your game bro:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AksiDR6lIDo

Pretty much everything that everybody said lol, this feels like an very old school OpenBor game and that isn't a bad thing lol, I just wish there were more combos and I didn't really like the long get up time whenever you get hit down by the enemy also the arrow enemies are a pain in the ass ROFL, they can hit you offscreen.

Backgrounds needs be animated, they were all way too static!!

Also the font is an used for a story needs to be changed, at first I thought I was starting on level 7 at first lol!!  Also the font used on the story screens appears to be very blurry but I don't know if that's just me or not!!

Overall not bad, but could use some work!!  Thanks for the game, look forward to see what you come up with next bro!! ;D
