Are there any plans to (slowly) switch over to IKEMEN Go on this thread?

IKEMEN now has suppot to fully 3D stages. Its on very early stages, but the results are prettry good:

The assets where converted to .gITF format
Daggnabbit!!

@DCurrent , any plans for something like this in a future release for Openbor? it would be nice to see fan games of beathemups like
guardian heroes or a more polished verision of batman forever

genuine polygon stuff, scaling and such can look really good in the righr hands

ahhh well , a tleast these tools can make the job of creating rocketviper style stage pre-renders easier.......

I knew that was coming...

There are absolutely no plans to integrate polygon models into OpenBOR. I'll leave that to Unity. OpenBOR can already replicate those examples anyway.

Also, RocketViper's method isn't nearly clever as it looks. Brute forcing a crapton of images is not only suboptimal, it's also means the "3D" is just an illusion with no layers, no interactivity, and very limited scrolling on one axis. You can get an identical effect with all the functionality of a normal stage, and you can do it for less than 5% of the resource cost. All it takes is judicious use of screens, fglayers, and a limited number of prerendered frames for the edges.

Any further derails will be deleted on sight. Let's keep this about Ikemen.

And it's cool to see this stage from different angles

those old manual polygon culling tricks are what makes adapating to 16 by 9 or wider a pain in the ass.

it's even worse if you want to do Killer Instinct Gold/Super Smash Brothers type Zoom effects
as you can see with my edit of this Namek stage
there are lots of missing layer and panel graphics tha have to be filled, now imagine filling in the gaps for 3D models

Very intersting if it was multiplatform so i can play on my phone.
So his chars are 2d and stages can be also 3d, his conversions of 3d chars to 2d are pretty good and its hard to tell if its 2d or 3d cause he exported in 60fps, iwonder if he can get rid of jaggies around character to blend better with alpha channel with the backgrounds, id seriously consider this over mugen for my own game.

i think there where older builds that would run on android, like the one in my video.

but you need a good phone

the Ikemen i use can only run well on a core i3 machine because i hacked it to run at a very low windows resolution
(326 by 240)
and it helped its performance, but new versions of Ikemen can't be forced to go that low res easily anymore, so if you run some levels, framerate suffers greatly.
